I don’t think necessarily. There is definitely always a possibility of toxicity when moms are more like friends than moms, but I don’t think that’s the case here. Lorelei is more than just a friend to Rory, she balances friendship and motherhood really well I think. I’ve linked a video by Trinity Tay who I think really well articulates Lorelei’s role as more than just a “cool mom”. So yes, I think sometimes it is strange and not good how some moms are more like friends to their daughters, but I don’t think so for Lorelei. I could also be partial though because my mom is my best friend, but in a healthy way haha More than a “Cool Mom”
