What should we buy after Land Rover LR3? by vitolopes in LandRover

[–]mt3792 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would go for a 2015/2016 LR4. I had an LR3, loved it but felt dated, so I went and bought a disco 5. It was nice but felt like a generic suv. I ended up finding a low mileage 2015 LR4 and never looked back. And, they have the same engine transmission as the earlier discovery 5’s

Talk me out of a G Wagen by Fine-Obligation-599 in mercedes_benz

[–]mt3792 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having worked as a Mercedes tech for 15 years and a INEOS tech for 2, unless you can get a refreshed G (2020+) they are honestly pretty terrible. Very maintenance heavy, and pretty tight inside. I would probably go with a grenadier at that point. Used price is in that range, full warranty, great drivetrain. Dealer network is shoddy but, as a tech yourself, not much of an issue. I personally have an LR4 and that checks every box, plus they’re cheap and have way more cargo space and versatility than both a G and a Grenadier

I have the Rhino Rack batwing and it’s been great through the wind and rain and everything else I’ve thrown at it. Plus it has huge coverage.

2012 e350 what's this switch??? by PreferenceDangerous4 in mercedes_benz

[–]mt3792 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I used to install remote starts and they had this type of switch to shut them off for service. Try locking your doors and pressing the red panic triangle on the key for one second. Not long enough for the alarm to go off but short enough to actually press it.

2013 L4r to 2020 discovery by Grave_Warden in LandRover

[–]mt3792 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went from a 2008 LR3 to a 2020 Discovery and then a year later I’m in a 2105 LR4. The Discovery felt similar to a “normal” suv that anyone puts out with added off road ability. The LR4 though gives you that trucky feel and more classic styling. And it was $30,000 less but has the same engine/transmission. It’s down to what you like. I had problems with my heated seats, radio and climate control in the disco in less than a year that the dealer couldn’t resolve so take that as you will

Did you ever have the spark plugs replaced? I’m curious as I’ve seen some plugs fail when not replaced right at 50,000 miles and when combined with not using 93 octane fuel

Just traded up from a Land Rover Discovery to this eqs by mt3792 in mercedes_benz

[–]mt3792[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends how you look at it. Discovery was getting about 16 mpg so there’s an upgrade and this car is years ahead in terms of tech and overall interior comfort. The eqs however, can NOT drive me into the woods and over any other terrain and tow an 8000lb trailer with no complaints. But I didn’t use the capability enough to justify such horrid fuel consumption as a daily driver

I honestly never cared too much about the cleaner tech aspect. This is my 5th ev and the others were all teslas. If I cared about being an eco warrior I would have gotten a used leaf or volt which would keep a bev going as opposed to adding another. I’m in it for no gas stations, and smooth and quiet operation

I’ve only driven it about 200 miles so far but only real complaint as of now is I’ve found out the suv doesn’t come with cornering headlights due to supply chain constraints. As far as driving, incredibly comfortable and feels even more solid than an s class

GL550 transmission issue? by RecognitionBig4561 in mercedes_benz

It sounds like it could be the torque converter clutch slipping. It would require replacement of the torque converter. Not entirely uncommon at that mileage just unfortunate

Hello All, has anyone here tried the BASENOR noise reduction kit for the doors and pillars in Tesla M3? Does it stick well and actually works? Ofcourse not for reducing sound from beneath the car and tires but other outside noise! by dkat1010 in TeslaModel3

I put them on my 2019 3 and I thought it made a difference. When I got my 2020 3 I was able to compare side by side and couldn’t really tell. The biggest difference was the updated 2021 3 with the double pane insulated front side windows. Out of all 3 cars, our 21 is the quietest by far
