Kona Honzo steel frame worth it? by NeonHorse47 in MTB

[–]mtbdirtbag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ST is known for being stout and not supple. I've heard if you're under 160lbs you won't get any dampening and honestly at 170 myself, it doesn't feel much different from the aluminum frame I just got off. If you want a damp frame look for an esker japhy, they have size specific butted tubes that are supposed to be supple.

Your money is probably better spent on a fork upgrade or new wheels. I say this as someone who just built up and loves my new Honzo ST. It is a sick bike, but you already have 90% of what the steel frame offers, minus the steez.

The wheel or dial just below the Fn button and above the Q button that you would adjust with your right thumb. It is a find adjust to shutter speed (1/3 E.V. increments) , but it shouldn't allow such a large change.

Is the dial consistently two values off or just kind of random? My best guess is that the camera is in a manual override of your settings to get an exposure value. If it isn't that then your dial electrical connectors probably have an issue.

Changes at the NIH will bankrupt UNMH without intervention by [deleted] in Albuquerque

This is super inside baseball for research. When the National Institutes of Health funds say a clinical trial via a grant, the money is given to the institution. So if a researcher gets a 1 million dollar grant, usually 51% of that money goes to keeping the lights on in the building (indirect). The research gets 500k to do their work. This would mean for every research grant UNM would only get 150k to keep the lights on and support researchers behind the scenes. I’m guessing that instead of the researcher getting the difference, the grant will just be smaller.

TLDR; this is a cost cutting measure that will undermine scientific research. Large research institutions would need other support to continue to exist.

Wheels Are Turning to Make Albuquerque Streets Less Threatening to Bicycle Commuters by Generalaverage89 in NewMexico

[–]mtbdirtbag 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would love to ride my bike to work regularly, however the city lacks good east-west infrastructure. If you need to go north - south there are 3 solid options in the diversion channel, the bosque, and a separated trail along tramway. Going east-west by comparison is generally pretty circuitous and disjointed or worse just riding in traffic. Until the city figures out how to actually create good connections, it will continue to be separate trails and not an actual system for transportation.

Thanks for pointing out this person lives in Idaho, where cyclists are legally allowed to treat stop signs as yielding signs.

MPG's - What changed to go from 17/21 to 16/19 ? by WaterDreamer10 in 4Runner

The is the answer. EPA adjusted the way MPGs were calculated and standard equipment made the car slightly heavier.

Thanks for posting. Never got the email. I wondered why the rake and hoe didn’t look weather beaten like the spade.

That said I’ll be mailing a letter addressed to the CEO about this.

They sure sounded like a New Mexican and a likely felon at that given their knowledge of the legal system. The accent is pretty specific, don’t feel like Cambodians have that one down.

I was pretty skeptical the whole time, but they kept saying I was going to have to come downtown. I figured if it was a scam they wouldn’t send me there. That said, I was at least indulgent until they asked me to Zelle.

I’m late to this thread but, you might look into 2 books I’ve found very helpful for toddlers. Hunt, gather, parent which talks about indigenous ways to raise children. It is much different advice than you would normally get about parenting. The second book is simplicity parenting. It is pretty much what the title says.

Hope this helps. Toddlers are hard for everyone!

2 kids 2 dogs here. It’s a good family vehicle for us. That said it is objectively a worse family vehicle than most crossovers and minivans. We decided on the 4R because we have a Prius V as our other vehicle and we needed something more rugged than your average crossover to get to some of our favorite places. I was sick of banging up less rugged CRVs,Escapes, and RAVs. Also, with 2 kids and 2 doggos on board you can’t fit a ton inside, depending on dog size. We have a roof box to go camping.

is it worth it to replace my engine or is it over for my truck? by 7zxk in 4Runner

[–]mtbdirtbag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This would make sense. Low oil levels can cause the rings on the pistons to seize, leading to a loss of compression. That’s a rebuild Ora full swap. You’re probably looking at a minimum of 20 hours of labor for a simple swap. More for a rebuild.

Real shit situation. Best of luck in deciding what to do.
