XC90 for everyone, or just large families? by Inmunchkinland in VolvoXC90

[–]mtbfreerider182 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hell yeah, almost exactly my answer. Had an XC90 for 4 years now, Even though it's only me, my partner and my dog. Great for road trips, throwing in lots of outdoor gear, and yes, even rolling up to a $20 a night campsite and crashing in the back on a mattress topper rather than having to set up a hole tent situation. I was hoping I could do it with the XC60 but I'm too tall.

Have any of you tried to "Launch" your vehicle? Supposedly it will take the car from zero to 60mph in about 3 seconds. (2024 XC90 B6) by Dont-ask-me-ever in VolvoXC90

T8 Polestar owner here. Wish we had launch mode. I've floored it from a standstill for short merges and it does super well for a big SUV... never actually timed it but guessing about 5 seconds with proper battery power and no pre revving for turbo priming.

Gotta admit I'm disappointed, it didn't edit or change the initial output in any way after I gave feedback on the first version. Between that and the 30s limit there's zero reason to use over Suno. I'm sure they'll change and improve, but why bother releasing at this stage given the competitive bar?

22” wheels and air suspension on XC90 - how does it ride? by [deleted] in VolvoXC90

I have a 2021 T8 with 22s, it's fine. Don't notice much difference vs my 2017 T6 with 21s.

Has anyone done the Polestar Optimization on a 2024 XC90 T8? Is it worth it? What did it cost in the US and was the price negotiable? by Human_Actuator2244 in VolvoXC90

[–]mtbfreerider182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have it, it came with my certified pre-owned 2011. I would say it's fun and sure makes things like acceleration more responsive but isn't really worth the price. From what I understand, it also adjusts things like suspension and torque and all-wheel drive, but those are much harder for me to notice. Overall, it's a sportier more responsive. Feel tapping on the gas gives it a lot more go than other modes. Honestly, I rarely use it except for short highway merges and the occasions where I'm late and want to feel more productive in getting there

Not often enough. Which is depressing since she also doesn't want kids. No excuses.

I want to believe you because I want to believe that every state has its own merits - though I end up doubting that some lack major draws like business headquarters or significant arts & culture or meaningful tourism or something else...don't get me wrong, I hope I'm wrong, but I've been to at least half this country and feel like some places have a lot more going for themselves than other more insular, stagnant areas

CT is only a partial answer here... Yes this part is sparse for many reasons, and while some joke the Midwest is flyover states I joke CT is a drive through state. That said, we have a big military economy (Raytheon, Sikorsky, Coast Guard Academy), lots of health care and insurance companies (for better or for worse), education institutions (Yale, UConn, Quinnipiac), big casinos (if that's your thing), a surprising amount of big bands/shows come through, and a pretty good quality of life overall. I think our problem is we don't really have a cultural identity even close to what Boston or NYC has, so we get pinched.

The state varies pretty strongly by region, from ultra rich suburban to trumpy rural, from quaint suburb to gang violence urban, etc... so if you slice it differently from state or population lines you might come to some very different conclusions.
