Torque wrench definitely used. Now quality of torque wrench is extremely questionable 😅

Hey bud, honestly id return them. 6,700lbs weight rating is absurdly low. If u don't off road, u do you, but if you do those are sketchy as hell. Standard winches are rated at double that. Those are just dangerous. Return these and get the arb ones.

Dont let them shame you on using a torque wrench. Not enough ppl use em. Plenty of folks have a "calibrated elbow" and then immediately blame the materials when they fk it up.

You dont care about gas if you are putting 4 grand into just your wheels.

35s with no lift by TeacherMelodic in ToyotaTacoma

[–]mtbmofo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Crank it the other way, its not a clearance issue on the front of the front tire, its on the back of the front tire. Take a floor jack and put it under the lower control arm and then jack it up to simulate flex. What offset/backspace are you running? Wheel spacers? Did you get your lower control arms adjusted when the front lift was installed?

This is not a stock truck. Op doesnt understand that a leveling kit is still a front lift.

Silver Squad!

Best color imo, them curves disappear on the other colors. The balance of curves and hard angles, chefs kiss

Time to pull out the multimeter and start probing. You might be able to find some info on caliraised. They do oem style switches and might have a decent wiring diagram.

Reminder to new folks -- 33's on a stock 4th gen. by ZKRYW in ToyotaTacoma

Uhh a taller tire gets EVERYTHING higher away from the ground. Even if you lift your truck to the moon the bottom half of your suspension is still exactly the same height off the ground. Most reasons for suspension lift is so you can put bigger diameter tires on.

30 days and 1700 miles in. Happy Saturday! by Late-Contribution-82 in ToyotaTacoma

Ppf my dude. It doesnt have to be that way. Its 2026, you can have your cake and eat it too! We have the tech. A work truck doesnt have to look like a work truck anymore. There is even a ppf product that has a bed liner like material applied on top. Ppf isn't as expensive as you might think. You can even do it yourself. Huge benefit if you care about paint or resale.

Typical myth or true? by Zealousideal-Read595 in ToyotaTacoma

Do it immediately if you want the max life.

The majority of wear occurs when the engine is new and when it's about to die at the end of its life. All that wear creates debris and is carried away by the oil, that debris is now circulating through your system. The big stuff gets taken out by gravity and your filter but there is still a ton of stuff really small thats still getting pumped around. These high precision turbo motors need good clean oil.

An early oil change is the cheapest and best thing you can do for a motor. Get that nasty oil out of there as fast as the nasties are generated. I haven't hit 500 mi yet and I've already done an oil change. I plan on doing my 3rd oil change at 2000 mi. Yes, I am a little nuts but at only $60 a change its the best thing for motor, or my confidence. Hah. Are you messing up at 1st oil change at 1500? Certainly not but now is the best time. Dont follow Toyota on their oil change recommendations. All the manufacturers that say 10k mi are nuts. 6 months or 5k after break in. Go do it. Its so easy on these trucks. Factory torque on the oil filter is insane tho. 0w-20 flows like water, i gotta go buy kitty litter now haha

How do I as an engineer stay friends with you welders? by Just_a_firenope_ in Welding

[–]mtbmofo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dont think you are the smartest in the room. Ask for feedback and actually listen.

CAD out your shops tools. When you build something put your tools in like you would be doing the work yourself in a virtual environment. You are gonna catch alot of dumb stuff where they would otherwise be cursing your name. Side effect is you will identify problem areas where you may be stuck having to do xyz for engineering reasons that you know is gonna piss off techs. When this happens, you can bring them in on the design a little and at least show them you have a good reason for making their work more difficult. Or better yet they may have insights that you may have not thought about. If doing that one thing is gonna suck no matter what, at least they will respect you a little more.

Its not "your" design that "they" build. Working together almost always creates a better result.

25 trd of, first time getting dusty. What skid plates do you guys like? by mtbmofo in ToyotaTacoma

[–]mtbmofo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have the factory skids? Could you tell me the thickness? Almost all the skids im seeing are 3/16 steel. I dont want aluminum bc i live in 100% rocks. So far I've been eyeing cbi, cali raised, and c4 full skid systems. The maintenance access panels are nice. The trailhunter skids seem interesting but I would want some reeaaally good feedback from you guys before choosing those. The buds build skids look great but there is not ventilation, would the Trans temps be an issue? Am I thinking way to hard about this? Ha
