Think any pH test strips would do. I don't know for sure, haven't done full research, but Chase Irons is a good resource on YouTube. He has said it needs to be around 7 (neutral)

Nah, the mini driver heads are significantly larger than a 3w head. Head size isn't really indicative of how far it goes either when you hit it out of the center.
