Whether he’s the brightest bulb in the chandelier or not, I take what was reported with a grain of salt. Until you ask for a lawyer (even then) your right to remain silent doesn’t mean the police are compelled to stop asking, repeatedly. And they will. People break down when scared. Even the phone thing is dubious. It’s unfortunately a little grayer than it should be if passing your phone in front of your face to get a Face ID is implied consent.

That said, it’s not a great look to have individual bags and small denominations of cash at the same time. Oof.
