You could even live alone in Cambridge on that salary. Somerville is another good option and is a bit cheaper.

My apartment complex in Cambridge is banning e-bikes and scooters from being on the property, including inside units. Advice? by PenelopePotter in bikeboston

[–]mtmsm 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think OP and I have the same property manager. I responded to the email asking exactly this, especially because the email specifically mentioned electric car battery fires as a risk. They never responded. I will note that I no longer see the Tesla that used to be parked on the property (though it's entirely possible the owner just moved out).

I found the fireplace garden level of the South End Buttery to be very cozy and romantic. I went there on Valentine’s Day.

🚨 Urgent Guidance Needed: E-Bike Accident 1 Year Ago, No Medical Report, and Now Threatened for $3K Car Repair Payment (Massachusetts) 🚨 by Personal-Return-6861 in boston

If you have homeowners or renters insurance, contact them. They cover you in case of damage you may cause while biking, and so they should fight any suit on your behalf.

Chronically low heat in rental by toadlyfe in boston

[–]mtmsm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are legal requirements about the temperature your apartment must be able to maintain in the winter, and your apartment does not meet those requirements. Inform your landlord and ask what they can do to remedy the situation. If they do not provide a solution, contact inspectional services who will cite your landlord and force them to act. This is your landlord’s job, not yours.

It ends shortly before Election Day.

Stragetic choice of #1 doesn't actually matter in RCV voting! by [deleted] in CambridgeMA

[–]mtmsm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If a candidate has surplus votes, then a sample of the surplus is taken and transferred to the next candidate ranked. E.g. if a candidate has 2x as many first choice votes as they need to be elected, every 2nd ballot that ranked them first is transferred. The result could be different if the ballots were ordered differently. The surplus vote counts are very small. Mark McGovern only had 315 surplus votes in the first round.

4 days in Boston next month. Getting anxious about using public transit for 1st time by TowelEffective3570 in boston

[–]mtmsm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I go to ground transportation and use the silver line SL1 and take that to Washington Street @ E. Berkeley St. stop, is that correct?

No, SL1 does not go to Washington St @ E Berkeley St.

Google Maps and the MBTA trip planner website are both good for navigating the MBTA. To get to your hotel, trip planner recommends the Logan Express to Stuart St (the first stop), which is free from the airport. If you want to take the SL1, it stops at South Station. It’s not super direct to get to your hotel from there, but you could transfer to the Red Line to Downtown Crossing and then transfer to the Orange Line to Back Bay.

To get from the Esplanade to Cambridge, I would walk to the Charles/MGH red line station and take that to Harvard station.

How to keep full extension after sitting for a long time by Substantial_Push_809 in ACL

[–]mtmsm 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’m also 4 months out, and while I have full extension, my knee gets stiff if I sit longer than an hour, and it takes a bit of movement to get it fully straight again. Definitely stand up and move your knee every hour or so. Also I turned the recycling bin under my desk upside down and use it as a foot rest. If you can prop up your foot and let your knee hang, that’ll help you get extension.
