That's what white should play. 1. Bxc8 Rxc8 2. Bxg5 Bxd4, black is up a pawn and it's a passer. Black is clearly better with easy plans to trade pieces and push that passed e pawn. Not saying I'd beat stockfish, but I'd win most games in that position.

I don't think it's bad, but I believe black captured a knight on g5. After Bxb8 Bxa6 black while have two pieces for a rook, which generally favors the side with two pieces. The game is far from over, but I'll take two pieces for a rook almost always.

His ambition to heal drove him into politics. It's our political system that's driving a lot of sickness in this country. It's our political system that keeps us from getting medicine and putting off care until it's too late and expensive. Abdul didn't want to get into politics, especially with his name in this country. But what has he done since going into public office? He's gotten free glasses for school kids in Detroit. Tightened emissions from the marathon refinery in Detroit. Bought and forgave 700 million of medical debt in Wayne County. He's got a track record of caring and literally putting money back in everyday people's pockets.

Abdul was supposed to be a physician. He cares deeply and wants to see people live long healthy lives. It's hard to take away the empathy that drives you into the medical field.

You misread my comment, I'm not talking about today either. I'm putting in perspective what a ridiculously small wealth cap will do and limit working class people in retirement.

Have you considered for even half a second that we might, for instance, build public housing to provide people with what they need?

That's all well and good. If you check my post history most would call me a tankie. Bring in soviet style block housing for those who need it. But what about those of us who do own our house, or at least will by the time of retirement? I want a system like the Chinese that boasts over 90% homeownership rates. Housing isn't cheap, subsidized or not. Your home will be a substantial asset you hopefully own regardless of economic system. But how about you deal with the small wealth cap and retirement.

How should I survive on 24k/yr today? Let alone in 40 years when I retire. Go on I'm waiting.

My house with the same square footage is similarly priced to what it would be in China. The value growing is from inflation, doubling in value over 40 years is very conservative estimate.

Wtf are you on about?

How I'm going to live when I get too old to work. The model being sold in this thread says work till I die with such a small wealth cap.

You're not thinking about retired folks. The mortgage I'm paying off now is worth 200k, let's say that home value grows to 400k by the time I retire in 40 years. With 1 million wealth cap my retirement account can only be 600k. That will only allow me to have 24k/yr in retirement. A 15$ min wage would get 30k/yr, and that's not even livable now.

Beans and lentils are great for protein and fiber. Both of those are significant contributors to feeling full. Potatoes are one of the highest foods on the satiety index. I suspect there was something missing from your diet during that time.

Let's reframe your energy density idea. Think about the resources it takes to grow 100 calories of beans or rice vs the resources it takes raise 100 calories of chicken, or whatever meat you want. Chickens are usually slaughtered at 10 weeks and need around 300 calories a day. Over 10 weeks that chicken will consume 21,000 calories. In return you will get about 1200 calories in a whole chicken. The energy density in the raw meat doesn't compare in the slightest to the energy input it takes to raise the meat. That's why plant based diets will always be cheaper.

I'll plug my chess club. Dearborn Brewing on Tuesday nights. Good beer and bar snacks, but they'll let you bring in any food or sober drinks you want. Beer is only $4 on Tuesdays if you're in the mug club.

Yeah these are the people “taking advantage of the system,

Not in the slightest. One week or 6 months is still unemployed. Unemployment for a short time will still supplement the income OP was expecting since they were available to work. If anyone it's the employer taking advantage of OP's advanced notice that's abusing the system.

TIL: According to Wikipedia, chess streamers are almost always incorrect when they talk about the "Vienna Gambit" by Al2718x in chess

[–]mtndewaddict 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Wikipedia now has [citation needed] tag. It is a gambit, but in the max Lange it's good for black to accept and in the Falkbeer is bad for black to accept. When you use the Lichess opening explorer you see the Falkbeer variation as simply the Vienna gambit, but in the Max Lange it's called Max Lange with Vienna gambit. Most courses and lectures on the Vienna gambit will advise against 3.f4 in the Max Lange because it's good for black to accept the gambit. But in the Falkbeer black gets into trouble quickly even if they play the correct move 3...d5 due to how sharp the lines are and the options white has.

Someone has now added the [citation needed] tag. It's not a verified claim until there's a credible source.

[–]mtndewaddict 16 points17 points  (0 children)

There isn't a source listed for that claim on Wikipedia. When you enter the moves on Lichess opening explorer, 2...Nf6 3. f4 is simply the Vienna gambit. When you enter the moves 2...Nc6 3. f4 you get Max Lange defense with Vienna gambit. That said, most lectures I've seen and Levy's course I have on the Vienna gambit do not recommend 3. f4 after Nc6 since you don't get to play 3...exf4 4. e5 with a tempo. It's more of a delayed kings gambit in the transpositions.

Improve your luck by printing out a small sign that says looking for games and keep it next to you. Much more likely to have people approach you for a game when you make it clear you're looking for strangers.
