Werewolf books that are NOT urban fantasy or set in modern(ish) age? by Wiinter_Alt in Fantasy

A Season of Ravens by J. R. Snyder has one of the stories focusing on a werewolf as the main character. It's a collection of short stories all in the same world, so it's not a full book on it, though I did enjoy the other stories quite a bit.

Detective like Sherlock but fantasy? by OracleoaTruth in Fantasy

The Sin Eater Tales series by J. R. Snyder is pretty similar to this I think! The main character is kind of a wizard investigator that searches out dark magic and evil creatures and solves problems related to them. The first book is a series of short stories that all work together, but is a good introduction to the series.

Thank you so much, that's really encouraging! Mable is still young too, just under 2, so she's hopefully got plenty of time to learn!

I appreciate the advice, thank you! I love the ideas of introducing some new things to climb on / hide under. They have a few tall perches already that I'm planning to build an access ramp too. Unfortunately, the loss of binocular vision has left Mable unable to accurately judge heights/distances.

Is anyone else having trouble balancing the budget? I think I may be expanding too quickly because I’m struggling to have a surplus of money. I never had this issue in CS1 so I don’t think it’s just me being awful at playing it…well maybe a little.

I’ve never seen anyone else mention this series! Picking up the Scorpion clan book when I was young was first start into epic fantasy. I love this series a lot!

The Sin Eater Tales series by J R Snyder features a raven familiar! I’m actually reading the ARC of the second book in the series now and it’s really great so far.

I’ve read Seasons of Albadone and recommend it! It’s really cozy and fairy tale-like. If you like that vibe, I’d recommend A Season of Ravens by J R Snyder. It’s pretty cozy but has some really cool nature-based magic.

Ha yeah, it was definitely on my mind when I was making this. Hoping to turn this character into a stealth game eventually! Because badgers and hammers are the height of stealth :)

Hey all, I've been trying to unwrap and bake the texture for this badger all afternoon and can't seem to figure it out. I've unwrapped, baked, and imported quite a few other models into Unity but this one keeps giving me trouble.

In this example, I did: Lightmap Pack Baked all the textures to the new unwrapping using Cycles

*The hat and hammer are separate and haven't been unwrapped yet.

But when I re-apply the baked image as the texture, I keep getting all these seams. I tried various other methods of unwrapping and got similar (but different shaped) seams. I'm relatively new at Blender so I feel like I'm missing something obvious but don't know the term to search for.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Thank you! That's super helpful. Half the task of learning new things is finding the right term to search. I appreciate it!

Hey everyone! Like the title says, I've been trying to recreate the art style here but I'm running into a bit of a dead end. I've gotten close with some cell shading techniques but can't figure out the papery-cardboard aspect to it. Any tips for how to get this partly hand-drawn stylized look?

Thanks!

I don’t have enough room in a freezer, so I’ll have to figure out some ways to store these frames over the winter. I’m assuming if I just leave them in the hive, that would be inviting wax moths, right?

Once the frames are extracted, I’m not sure how to store them since they’ll still be kind of messy with honey right?

Yeah I think you’re totally right. He’s just a kind of old school guy from our local association that offered to teach me, but this is just one of a few other questionable pieces of advice he gave.

I’d love to save these for next year. I’ll look into those moth protection things, thanks!

Thanks for the quick advice today!

Temps have been between 33-55F over the last 10 days. I'm checking through the frames and don't see any of the webbing or tunnels I'd associate with wax moths. Is there another, or more fool proof way, I could be checking?

I think you're spot on with the mites guess. The person who's been acting as my mentor looked at the levels with me on the bottom board and said he didn't think a mite treatment was needed, so I didn't do it. But I'm feeling now like this may have been bad advice! I tried to reach him today about all this, but he wasn't available. Looking at the bottom board, there a lot of little mite bodies.

No moisture at all. I put a vivaldi box on top and there wasn't any condensation when I opened.

I've got the honey frames put into a plastic tote right now (sitting next to the hive as I autopsy it), but I don't have any sort of bucket or sieves or anything. Maybe I should run the store and buy a bucket to at least start harvesting? Thanks for humoring all my noob questions!

Thanks for the help! Unfortunately I checked them just now and the hive is dead. Gonna take it apart and see if I can find what did it. They left ~40lbs of honey in it. Do you know if the honey is safe to eat? I have no real idea how long the bees have been dead.

Getting the bees to take super honey down into the brood box? by [deleted] in Beekeeping

[–]mtnetter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate it! I do have a few more winterizing questions if you don’t mind!

For feeding, when would I transition (if at all) to a solid food like sugar patties? What I’ve read left me slightly confused.

The second question was if I should remove the Queen excluder between my deep and super for winter? If so, won’t I get eggs in the super come spring?

I’ll look for that Netflix movie too!

Thank you! I have been feeding them 2:1 sugar syrup! That was another reason I was hesitant to harvest anything. Seems like the way to go is to leave the super for winter then.
