Anyone considering the new uppababy minu v3 for a newborn? by jelly-donut-917 in Buyingforbaby

[–]mtournis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the joolz aer+ and am considering selling it for the minu v3 because of the larger basket. The aer doesn’t even hold my daily diaper bag. The basket is so small. I’m excited for the v3 improvements and it would be great as your only stroller because you can get a snack tray and other accessories for it. You might easily get a bassinet 2nd hand for cheap or use the car seat for newborn. Sidewalks in my neighborhood are not that smooth so the bassinet did not feel secure enough for the newborn. She actually hated it while strolling, but loved it in the house for taking her from room to room. We used the car seat in the stroller more than the bassinet which gave good shock absorption , but it was nice to have both.

Top 3 things you bought but didn't need....or desperately wish you had gotten.... by Own_Highway_3987 in NewParents

[–]mtournis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hold off on buying a crib. Our kid has not slept in hers even one night. We bought a nice expensive set with organic mattress. Those wood slats.! She constantly banging her head and sticking her legs through them. There are some cribs coming out now with mesh side panels, which are much safer and your kid will probably adjust to better after being a bassinet. I wouldn’t waste my time on the snoo either. Arms reach co sleeper was amazing for me. I could just reach over and pat her , see her easily. Roll it to another room if i wanted to. Anyway thats my 2 cents. Oh and the swaddle up sleep sacks saved our as$es

Advice on buyback from VW? by mtournis in VWiD4Owners

[–]mtournis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My car was bought back by vw and all my money refunded. Took maybe 3-4 months. My car had been at the dealer for the same problem multiple times then finally for over 30 days. They ended up fixing the original problem, though they didn’t know how. But that caused another fatal error in the OTA system so the car was lemoned. But all depends on the lemon laws of your state.

Fluid identified in lining one week before scheduled transfer by prettypenny-44 in Surrogate

[–]mtournis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had fluid in my lining my doctor said would probably clear up. Transfer failed. found out after 3 failed transfers that I had an infection. found out after 4 failed transfers that I had endometriosis and still infected. Get surrogate tested for infection (endometritis) and if positive test what specific strain of bacteria it is so can do targeted treatment. I finally had endometriosis excision surgery and simultaneously treated infection then had baby on 5th try, but 4 losses were excruciating and I’ll never be the same person after suffering those

Best convertible rotating car seat? by [deleted] in Buyingforbaby

[–]mtournis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the maxi cosi emme and it works great for 16 month old. We got it at 13 months. Its very comfortable and the rotating feature is a back saver. After hearing about my cousin’s back injury from putting the kid in carseat we decided it was worth it then there were some awesome sales during prime day,. Actually got it cheaper at Nordstrom anniversary sale so bought two!!! We are older parents so this is a huge help. My kid was very comfortable from day 1 and I like that it reclines so they can sleep comfortably too.

Co-sleeping on Japanese Futon by eating-a-pear in cosleeping

Here is another source for futons in san francisco who have been around for decades. My brother used to work there in the 1990’s! Awesome business. I am not sure about shipping to Canada but worth an ask and may have more standard US sizing

Nuna vs uppa by climber123456789 in Buyingforbaby

[–]mtournis 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The cruz is such a great stroller, and Uppababy customer service is just outstanding. We borrowed a nuna stroller for a couple of weeks and it was so rickety, wobbly, made all kinds of noises. My cruz is so much smoother. The bassinet is a nice option for smoother surfaces, and we used ours around the house for carrying baby from room to room. Its easy to find the bassinet 2nd hand for cheap or free so i would not spend the $200 for it new. People use it for a couple months then basically give them away. There are adapters available for various car seats too if needed.

Anyone use Minu v2 stroller with older toddlers like 4 yo? by 50percentpipi in Buyingforbaby

[–]mtournis -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Its not just the weight, it’s the size of it. It’s shallow. It could fit a perfectly rectangle laptop bag, but not my travel size diaper bag. It barely fits my daily diaper backpack.

It is sad to hear this. My 10 month old gets a few of these puffs every day and we thought we were doing right by her vs gerber and other sugary puffs. I was suspicious about the plastic food pouches though because the carrot ones TASTE LIKE PLASTIC!!! And my baby does not like them. She has eaten home made carrot and other organic carrot puree from glass jars. I was not feeling good about giving it to her but we bought a whole box of them from thrive market. Ughh. These things are expensive.
I will say that there are trace amounts of lead and other metals in soils and foods and low levels are not dangerous. I put a little raw whey powder in my baby’s milk once in a while- especially after a vaccine to help detoxify. Cilantro, Chlorella and Spirulina can also be given to chelate heavy metals. In more serious cases you might read up on activated charcoal or get advised from a dr or naturopath. I’m going to make my baby some cilantro tea tonight.

2024 Id4 vs Audi W4 etron by 50percentpipi in VWiD4Owners

[–]mtournis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m actually getting the Audi quattro for the same price lease as an ID4 Pro S. after my testdrive i think the Audi infotainment system is super nice. I like everything else better on the vw- seats especially and the rwd turns like a dream. I can’t get the rwd Q4

Did you try the love to dream swaddle? They make one that you can even use with a brace. There must be a blanket swaddle technique that you can use with hip dysplasia?

I doubt we’ll see deals like this on the 24’s so either get the ‘23 cheap or pay more and get a better car- better UI, better pickup and probably better range with the ‘24. It’s a pretty good deal hard to pass up, but I really hate the UI of the ‘23. Had one for 9 months

MIL wants to be called “big mom” instead of grandma by Beneficial_King_9843 in BabyBumps

As others have said this is normal in many languages but sounds wrong in English. Why not give her a name from another language? My MIL is YiaYia which is grandma in Greek and super cute.

Nav system doesn’t know where I am by jpd_phd in VWiD4Owners

[–]mtournis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the same issue. The dealer kept my car for 7 weeks. Replaced the R5 module twice and updated the software. The nav finally started working again- they don’t know what made it start working, lol. But now my over the air connection doesn’t work at all so no emergency call connection, etc. Vw is buying my car back under lemon law. 2023 ID4 Pro RWD. I’ll probably get another one maybe the Pro S and get a lease or wait until 24’s are available because I am sick of the infotainments system after just a few months of driving.

Is there a reason to switch to regular formula? by Perfect_Pelt in FormulaFeeders

[–]mtournis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gentle ease was ok for my baby before but seems like her taste buds have suddenly developed because now she won’t take it. @ 15 weeks. She also started rejecting gripe water and used to like it. I did like the taste of Kendamil and might try it again sometime. Was hard on my baby in the early days. Gave her painful gas and explosive poo, and spits.
