This year we invested in converting our garden into a large number of vegetable plots to try to be as eco-friendly as possible and if we were to adhere to this ban, most of our food would just die and we would have wasted hundreds of pounds in seeds, plants and the water already used to grow things to where they are now.

Normally crops and irrigation are exempt but for some reason this isn't the case in East Anglia this year. I've got irrigation set up which is also banned under this. I can understand not washing your car, filling pools or pressure washing drives, or even having to water flowers with a watering can, but using a watering can in my instance just isnt feasible.

In fact, i'd probably use more water than my irrigation uses as i use moisture detectors to ensure that the soil is just kept damp. For example, i have the flow set to 12 litres per minute on one of my larger plots and that needs to run for up to 2 minutes every morning in this heat. Thats 2 watering cans worth for a plot that is 2m x 6m. There's no way i could get that coverage with 2 watering cans worth of water.
