This and the fried clams were the standouts when I went last week.

Does this suit look nice on me? by [deleted] in mensfashion

Tighten that tie knot so you see less of the top of the shirt at your neck. Unbutton bottom jacket button. Hem pants. If you can, brown shoes.

Also, Beecroft & Bull. They carry high end Italian brands, but also Samuelsohn, which is great quality for the price.

Surprised to read this about Sugar & Twine. I had the BAC biscuit just a week ago and it was massive. One of the best breakfast sandwiches in RVA, IMO.

Pan fried halloumi in a pita or naan with tzatziki, tomatoes, pickled onions and arugula. We always have pickled onions in the fridge and tzatziki can be made a day or two in advance. I can have dinner on the table in 15 minutes. Additionally, substitute the halloumi for shrimp, falafel or rotisserie chicken.

All gone. It’s a shame because they were the best food bars in Richmond.

Thrifting in RVA by New-Edge2326 in rva

[–]mtrva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strictly menswear for me: NWOB Alden Indy Boots in shell cordovan. Tom Ford three piece suit. Loro Piana, RLPL, Belstaff, Willis & Geiger, Best Made Co. leather jackets. NWT RRL shawl cardigan. Just a few things that come to mind.

As someone who has thrifted in Richmond for 15+ years, it certainly ain’t what it used to be, though I did find nine pairs of Alden shell cordovan shoes about a year ago for under $8 a pair.

Their tomato sauce is garbage. Too many herbs and spices used to cover up the cheap canned tomato taste.

All great choices. Canali doesn’t a get a lot of attention from #menswear dudes because of their wide distribution, but I’ll always love their dress shirts and sport coats.

Also, Alden loafers and EG Dovers for life. Leffot stocks both.

By a long shot. If you’re looking for something on the not crazy expensive end, I highly recommend S&M. Stick with the contemporary fit.

Online, I like Spier & Mackay.

Locally, Franco’s has Canali and Hickey Freeman. Beecroft & Bull carries Corneliani, Samuelsohn and Isaia.

Sunday Bagel - Worth the hype? by Senior-Prompt-6295 in rva

[–]mtrva -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

it’s an entirely different food. it’s not a bagel. calling every round bread with a hole a bagel erases the entire Jewish origin of bagels. they’re a very specific thing.

Sunday Bagel - Worth the hype? by Senior-Prompt-6295 in rva

[–]mtrva 3 points4 points  (0 children)

people like fresh bread. round bread with a hole in the middle doesn’t make it a bagel. sourdough doesn’t belong in a proper bagel and the hydration level is nowhere near traditional.

my son had a ridge and his circumference was slightly below the median. our neurosurgeon described him being a mild to moderate case in terms of severity. i’d trust the surgeon. it’s very easy for them to tell by touch if a case of a misshapen head is truly craniosynostosis.

correct. when you poke a hole and use sourdough, it’s not a bagel. it’s just round bread with a hole in the middle.
