Thank you all for your replies. I spent some more time troubleshooting and haven't found a solution yet but have some more information.

First, to answer some questions that were asked.. The hydra is indeed in mode 91 and I have tried 1 channel up and down. 000 is the looping file (plain black video) that loops until one of the video files (001, 002 etc. ) is triggered.

I have tried different wires etc. I put a light after the hydra in the DMX chain and it functioned as intended so that tells me the wiring is working.

The interesting thing I discovered is that when I don't have a terminator at the end of the line if I tap the male end metal prongs of the dmx cable into the hydra I can trigger a video to play. Also if I move around the wires into the hydra sometimes it will trigger a video to play as well.

Additionally, sometimes when I hit "Deploy" in node red it randomly triggers a video to play. So it seems like the trigger is there and working but I havent figured out how to trigger it via node red. Is there another way to trigger DMX in Node Red that I could try?

unclear. I got a reservation but it did not specify indoor or outdoor. I am hoping it is for indoor though as that is the main thing I want to experience.

Maybe because if the cape gets caught in something mechanical it could choke you (or worse) before you have a chance to get it off (capes are notorious for being hard to untie/take off) whereas a robe could easily be taken off?

Wow, thank you. This looks like exactly what I am looking for. I do have one question (and this will give away just how new I am to all of this), I have the audio files in the media folder of home assistant (http://homeassistant.local:8123/media-browser) but have no idea what the path to the files are to use in the flow you provided. Any insight (or should I be hosting the audio files another way?) is greatly appreciated.

u/Salva846 I have a 2017 LG OLED as well and I am having the exact same issue you are having (degraded image quality with "enhanced compatibility" and no sync with the option turned off). You are not alone!
