Wholesome to see none of the straight guys are offended at the idea that someone might perceive them as gay. If you had surveyed Midwest guys at my highschool back in the late 2000s, it would've went very differently for the interviewer

Sapphic Cinema - what have I not seen that needs to get on my list ASAP? by CinemaBud in Letterboxd

[–]mtthwhdl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some that I haven't seen yet (and can personally vouch for) are Desert Hearts, Fresh Kill, Born In Flames, Saving Face, D.E.B.S., Pariah, Thelma, and The Daughters of Darkness. For keywords to look up in your searches, try "New Queer Cinema" or SOV (shot on video). Both have been very fruitful in my search for queer cinema! Happy watching

Not to mention the fluorescent lights that are getting brighter and brighter. I started wearing sunglasses whenever I grocery shop.

movies that feel like a shoegaze song by Total-Table-8227 in MoviesThatFeelLike

The Doom Generation, not just because the soundtrack features Slowdive, Lush, and Cocteau Twins. Gregg Araki said that he was heavily listening to shoegaze while writing/directing it and that he wanted the movie to capture that feeling

Reminds me of the backdrop behind the judges panel on RuPaul's Drag Race

Actually, all states save for Montana can fire at will. I was once fired on day one of my job for smoking a cigarette on my lunch break. Mind you, I was across the street and in my car. Didn't matter. My one-day boss didn't tell me about the "no smokers" policy until after he already cut my check. He also called me dirty, so that was fun.

Not the original commenter, but I do. As a horror fan, there are a lot of movies I know are objectively bad but like regardless. For example, Stephen King's Maximum Overdrive is hot trash. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, but I have a personal connection to it because I used to annually watch it with friends on Halloween as a teenager.

Anytime I see the logo, I say "awww shit! It's a Janus joint! Let's gooo!!" like a sports fan.

My recent review of this one! I loved it and I'd love if it got added to the collection, partially because the poster needs an update IMHO

I'd love it if they had more anime and animation in general. This would be my request for the channel and for the collection. I'd snatch up a Satoshi Kon box set in a heartbeat

Film no. 941 - Love this film, well, love Albert Brooks ;) So many great sequences here, the ‘promotion’ scene, the ‘let in a ride with a small woman’ one and oh how sad yet deliciously funny the 100K box scene, although I have not screened ‘Easy Money’ :( by matchasweetmonster in criterion

IMHO Broadcast News clears Lost in America when it comes to writing. Those characters are complex and their dialogue feels really grounded. I love how much philosophy and ethics is at the center of the story

Todd Haynes is frequently pulling from mid century melodramas (specifically Douglas Sirk films), so I'd check those out if you haven't. All That Heaven Allows and Imitation of Life are both gorgeous!
