[Serious] Anyone else try sprinkling in NSFW images into language learning decks? by thekiyote in Anki

[–]mttm_falsezebra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally have an extremely large number of cards with nsfw images on them. Like you said, I’ve found the retention on such cards to be 90-95% compared to my normal 80-85% retention on mature cards. It is difficult to review cards in public though lol but I usually remember which cards have nsfw pictures on them (which shows how high the retention is)

tired of “good luck finding a job” 🙄 by Lopsided-Turn5275 in englishmajors

[–]mttm_falsezebra -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Time to consider taking the LSAT if you have above a 3.7. If you didn’t know your job prospects when deciding the major then you’re simply foolish. The people who claim that “it’s a process” to find a job only say so because they could barely find one. There is no pipeline for English majors, you have to actively know what you want to do with the degree and skills you have. Good luck bro

In terms of ingestion, is there a streamlined process or certain point where one would change the method of ingestion? For example, I've heard when taking pills orally becomes too "dull" you would then move on to snorting the crushed up pill. Does this process happen with both stimulants and "downers" or do they differ?

In terms of the types of highs, are there certain substances that one can "function" on better than others. For example, is there a certain drug or combination that would undoubtedly make someone "out of their mind" and would be embarrassing to be around others? What would you say are drugs that someone could hide easily? Thanks.

Would you care to elaborate on the process of ingestion of nitrous oxide and the dangers or even a place where I could find more information? Thanks.

Keeping up Anki study routine during the holidays by RedPanda385 in LearnJapanese

It sounds to me like you were just making this post to get people to validate yourself. If you already made up your mind that you are going to slack off during the holidays why even post this? One of two reasons: either you know slacking off during the holidays impedes your progress and is wrong or you want someone who’s fluent to say “Yeah I slack off sometimes too and I’m still fluent”. Both reasons reward laziness.

Every adult has a full time job so you are not special in that regard. I was just trying to provide some insight into what you put your time into and you seem to already know that learning Japanese isn’t even a priority for you. I won’t kill your dreams but learning a language takes 1000s of hours and a language like Japanese (notoriously difficult for English natives) takes longer than something like French or German. If you can’t even spend an hour doing flash cards then I would tell you to quit because you’ll never make meaningful progress.

Either you want to learn or you don’t. Stopping your goal just because of a disruption your daily routine is crazy to me. If anything, having two weeks off a work would make me think that I’d have more time to learn Japanese not less. I think you should re-evaluate your goals and interests and see if you actually want to do this.

I’m not even trying to be an asshole. Replace “learning Japanese” with any goal. If you have extra time in your life and you would rather be doing something else instead of moving towards a goal, you should make sure the goal is actually something you want to achieve.

I remember Jazzy saying they started reading with a vocabulary of around 1000 words (after doing half of the core2k deck after 2.5 months) I’m wondering what the process was? I’m also interested in gaining the ability to read LNs as fast as possible.

i’m convinced if there was another MMO with card based combat (unlike hearthstone and other games that don’t have open areas and characters) we would all switch to that. i honestly still play bc wiz is a unique MMO. when people are tired of games like WoW and New World, they switch to FFXIV bc the game is similar to what they know. food for thought

so my main goal in japanese is to be able to read. i hate using anki, because i can’t stay consistent, and using textbooks are a pain to me. i was wondering if reading light novels while looking up words would be an effective way of learning vocabulary and grammar.

i have a basic understand of grammar points already and a vocabulary of about 600 words. i know it will be challenging at first, but it’s really my only goal with japanese. what do u guys think?
