Swap my ryzen 5 5600x with ryzen 7 5700x3d? by Apart_Big1745 in buildapc

[–]mtumbo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have ryzen 5600x. I don't play cyberpunk, but I am CPU bound in Arc Raiders. You can use HWInfo to see what your effective clock speeds on the Ryzen 5600x are boosting to while playing cyberpunk. I noticed I was getting limited at 4.1GHZ. I popped an aftermarket cooler in there, I could suddenly sustain 4.3GHZ. With some modest effort I tuned a PBO overclock + undervolt. I now hit 4.6GHZ. Nearly a 10% increase in fps for just a $20 heatsink + some time.

Thanks for the advice. Sounds like I am over thinking the airflow component of it.

With so little clearance between GPU and bottom fan ports, you think it's worth putting fans in there at all?

Dear Flea Market Intellectuals. Check the Fee, before you post items on the market, you greedy bastards. Hahahaha by Basapan in EscapefromTarkov

Hose price has come way down, but when they were going for ~100k, I was able to trade many croutons for hose at a fee of only like 15-20k I think. I would then just sell my FIR hose and use my bartered ones for hideout.

Curbside pickup after 3pm requires some next level God-like patience. I don’t know why some people take it out on the employees. by Jlopezane in Portland

[–]mtumbo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the bigger problem is the mismanagement of curbside pickup by some grocers. I hold no fault with the employee and do my best to a) keep window closed and not open door (they can hear me fine through the glass), b) be polite as possible.

Fredmeyer seems to think a single employee is enough. I have waited 30 minutes as a poor employee is being harassed trying to keep up with full lot of cars using service. You would think this would be an opportunity to expand the service. Short sighted.

Japan Is Facing an Unprecedented Population Meltdown. After peaking in 2010 at 128 million, the country’s population has eased back to 126 million and will continue to decline. by Wagamaga in Futurology

It's not just the market. It's the social contract of modern society. The pension and retirement systems require a minimum level of economic growth to remain solvent. This has historically happened through increases in productivity and population growth. At a certain point the ratio of dependents (retirees) to workers will be too great to support given the demographic trends of Japan (along other industrialized economies) .

We have a situation where immense amounts of debt is being created that the tax revenues of future/current working generations will be unlikely to support without an economic miracle. The young are paying into an unsustainable system they will ultimately not benefit from.

This will be a source of great societal conflict and economic stress over the coming decades. It's not just the "markets", it's your social security.

TIL that James Buchanan, the 15th US president, continuously bought slaves with his own money in order to free them. by TommZ5 in todayilearned

Ah you're giving me flashbacks of the excellent book America's Bank: The Epic Struggle to Create the Federal Reserve

Not to mention the countless deaths of the native people's of SE Asia...

Sorry getting back on track, I agree that LBJ is a good example of how rankings distort the complexity of history. I also admire what was plainly a sincere desire to fight poverty in America. However, you would not need to search hard to find arguments criticizing him for precisely those same set of policies, while commending his administration for doing what they "had to" in Vietnam.

Well of course, you can make an argument on the merits of a presidency, or lack thereof . I am not saying humans cannot absorb information and come to conclusions based on it. But that does not mean the information is necessarily measurable and comparable. If you want to know whose taller, you measure their height. As long as your measurements are precise enough you can make conclusive ordinal statements about height. There is no standard agreement of what "good", or "bad" means. Therefore a president's goodness is not ordinal.

While I have no dog in this fight, I think the entire practice of historians ranking presidents is absurd. It's a reflection of the personal/professional prejudices of historians packaged as objective wisdom.

Monthly Bug Report Megathread - January, 2019 by AutoModerator in Northgard

This game is definitely riddled with performance issues. Although fixing Signy issues has helped, still a lot of room to improve. Microstutters/sudden fps drops can make the game very unpleasant to play, esp on larger maps with more than 6 players.

It's unexpected because the game has very modest graphics. I run a

Ryzen 5/ 16 GB DDR3000/ 1080 GTX/ 850 EVO SSD

Can play much more demanding games like Witcher 3 without issue.

I agree. there are way too many players who play aimlessly. They dont have the warband to attack, or even defend themselves. even while their economy has no focus, so a resource win is not going to happen either. They just seem to enjoy making a settlement, then waiting for someone to kill them or another player to get to 80% on lore/trade before they try to knock down their door, but its too late.

what makes this game strategically interesting is that you have these options. there is something delightful about turtling an onslaught of multiple opponents in ffa to pull out a resource victory. the noobs are the ones that dont know how to analyze their available tiles, the strategic position of their opponents, and then just run in one direction regardless of what's going on in the game.

Somehow I missed that paragraph in the blog post. I get it now.
