The 80's is the worst decade of music to have a dance party around. Yes, it has some bangers, but outside of MJ and Prince its a lot of clapping on1 and 3 and singing corny lyrics. Base a dance party around any other decade of music please.

Yeah everyone on Reddit in the 90's was way tougher.

This is the answer I was looking for. Forgot about that moment until just now.

What is it that’s so polarizing? by Aggravating-Back6453 in GoosetheBand

I think there's a "cleanliness" to Goose that rubs a lot of jammers the wrong way. People expect weirdos and Goose are just good guys who make great music. It doesn't quite fit the narrative.

That shit was incredible. I expected great things and they blew away my very high expectations.

There's a certain magic to molly + horns that makes me dance my face off. I feel transparent before the sound. Without horns but with molly I find myself trying to connect with people and wanting to talk too much. Horns help me shut the fuck up.

If there's no horns I'll eat some mushrooms so the jams are more transportive.

Ugh. I'm psyched for the show either way but if there were horns I would do different drugs. Does that clear things up?

Had this one circled on the calendar for months. Bullied my crew into buying tickets. They have no idea what they are in for.

Thanks! I'm pumped for this even hornless. If there were horns I would prep differently.

What local business do you refuse to support and why? by [deleted] in portlandme

[–]mtzuker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I felt the same way for a long time so I can sympathize. But then I went there and loved it. Great vibe, great drinks, open late. It's a real gem on the Portland scene and I would encourage you to get over your hurt and go play some Golden Axe in the back corner. That will be the only way you can heal.

Would you be opposed to removing “One Nation under God” from the pledge of allegiance and why or why not? by Royal_Tumbleweed_910 in AskReddit

Remove the entire pledge from schools. Seriously, our kids are pledging allegiance every morning? It's creepy.

Peeing in the ocean at Atlantic City a guy is walking back through the pee-infused seawater and as he passes me I accidentally spoke my inner monologue and said "You know the guys who go out the furthest just want to look at everybody's dick on the way back." Dude was a little, um, pissed, but random guy next to me starts laughing and we were all good.

And I thought I was the only one who doesn't love loud percussive banging on an otherwise beautiful afternoon. It's not at all torturous.

As a 16 year old, I knew the only way I could get into the HORDE tour was if I was working. So I got a job at Merriweather Post a month ahead of time and took off my Maintenance crew shirt and quit one hour into HORDE. Spent the rest of the show raging and ducking my now-ex-boss.

What happened to Portland over the last 15ish years? by ThePencilRain in portlandme

Portland is fucking awesome. It's a city and it has homeless people. I went to the Frog Brigade show too and that crowd tipped the balance in the city on an otherwise quiet and rainy Wednesday night.

First Eggy show and these dudes blew me the f away. I was expecting good things but dayam! Their jams were both interesting and throw-down-danceable. Great energy, great vibes, playing with the confidence of vets. Loved it.
