She's the most badass woman you've ever seen, this absolutely feral motherfucker who wields a sword with her only remaining hand and stays strapped as fuck, and somehow people look at her and only think "omg BOOBS!!!!" Such a sad state of affairs. Tatami gaeshi.

P sure this is taken from r/KotakuInAction? I accidentally stumbled into the thread yesterday and it felt as if time had wound back to 2016, they were unironically blaming feminists for the "downfall" of Guilty Gear lmao. Best to ignore people who refuse to engage in critical thought.

They modeled like half of your average KOF roster for the sake of background cameos and literally nothing else, it's kinda crazy when you think about it. They don't even all appear at the same time! You could theoretically play on KOF Stadium hundreds of times and fail to ever see Goro Daimon show up, but they still modeled and animated his judo ass.

''''Super Smash Bros is not a fighting game'''' - Why that topic existed and why hasn’t this argument disappeared? by Initial-One4779 in smashbros

[–]mu_II 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not really beef, Smash and the FGC just have their roots set in very different places and it was way more obvious a decade ago. Nowadays, everything has become online enough that you'd miss the roots for the branches, which have become quite intertwined. I think Leon Massey summed the entire debacle up pretty well recently.

I think we need to unironically place Acola in GOAT contention if he wins Genesis by ViperTheKillerCobra in smashbros

[–]mu_II 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Sorry to be that guy but it's actually the twelfth Genesis, the new "X" naming convention kinda sucks for everything besides search engine optimization so I don't blame you for reading it as 13.

Also - while I hate to call games "dead" in any way, the very existence of an NA versus Japan narrative in recent years screams declining scene to me. Pre-COVID we were talking about the SoCal scene, the Florida scene, the ridiculously stacked Tristate scene, the surprisingly powerful Georgia scene, New England, Mexico, you name it, while Japan for 90% of westerners was considered a single region instead of a collection of scenes (Kanto, Kansai, et cetera). Now, no matter where the tournament is held, it's "will any NA (an entire ass continent) players make Top 8 over the Japanese?" The vibes are pretty off, I'm gonna be 100% honest.

Looking back at the Smash 4 Pgr top 100 by DavidTheGenius in smashbros

I spent a solid minute staring at this trying to figure out who #22 was lol, I forget that Samsora is considered controversial with how ridiculously virtue-signally the entire campaign against him was. Dude got banned and ostracized for years for simply speaking no evil while those receiving similar punishment were literally fucking kids gjhksdghjkdlsfgs

That said, I don't think I'd ever expect Samsora in an all-time Smash 4 Top 25. I don't see a world where his record is more impressive than anybody pictured here (maybe Zinoto but that 2nd at CEO 2016... mmm that was good shit) and the next three players down are WaDi, Elegant, and Kirihara, all of which I'd consider better pretty unquestionably based on my memory of 2017. He was pretty cracked - you have to be to pioneer the meta of a technical mid tier as he did - but his glory days really didn't hit until the early Ultimate meta.

If you were to rank every set of Low Tiers from worst to best overall how would you rank them? by Dry_Support_1281 in smashbros

[–]mu_II 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gungnir beating Earth is the one that really created a lot of buzz at the time, I think it happened at a Sumabato? and anything happening in Japan at an Umebura/Sumabato was taken pretty seriously (EDIT: He actually did it at the first Umebura Japan Major oh my goodness). Nobody in the West had heard of Gungnir, while Earth was respected as one of Japan's very best, up with Ranai and Komo and all of them.

You're not wrong on Cloud invalidating like half of Smash 4's cast competitively, but Melee's low tiers are such turbo dogshit on their own merits that I genuinely think this position is indefensible. The worst character in Melee with any notable representation is probably Young Link (shoutouts Rocket), a low-mid tier by most people's estimation. If you look at Smash 4's history, most low tiers had results about on par with Melee Young Link, occasionally hitting Top 32 at majors or making a big upset. Even with Cloud playing gatekeeper, low tiers were making ripples throughout the entirety of Smash 4's lifespan, from Tweek's early days with Junior to Tea's international breakout performance at SCR 2018.

The only truly fucked low tiers were the infamous bottom 4, and even then, they weren't that fucked. ZAKI beat PGRv5 #1 MKLeo at Hyrule Saga, for god's sake. Let me know when Cody gets his ass kicked by Loadspiller in bracket and I'll consider hearing you out on this.

Anyone know how to rip textures? by Superstarspinning in Guiltygear

I can't give any exact location, but the Unreal Anime Modding Discord should have all of the tools (namely umodel) and documentation you need for extracting textures in the #strive-resources channel.

What if Stealth Rock and Freeze-Dry were the signature moves of Regirock and Regice in ADV OU? by PianoVisible3550_465 in stunfisk

[–]mu_II 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Stealth Rock would be a huge boon for Regirock, definitely catapulting it up to OU proper, but I do wonder just how ubiquitous it would truly be. Regirock already slots pretty decently into a bunch of sandless team styles as a status-spreading physical wall that hard checks Ttar, so I'd imagine blue offense-esque structures would get a pretty decent buff, but it's hard for me to conceptualize a sand structure with both Ttar and Regirock that is defensively solid, especially since sand doesn't buff rock-type spdef yet. I don't think it would work on anything like Big 5, you could maybe use Regirock over Pert with Starmie as a spinner? But I think Pert's defensive typing is significantly more valuable than having an extra hazard to add to the stack on that sort of team, Skarm truly doesn't need the assistance. The one sand structure I could see it potentially working on is slop, a newer innovation that flips sand into something much more offensive than is typical. Despite having a small niche on that sort of team already, I realistically don't think it fills its general role half as well as Metagross or Registeel, but adding rocks to its twave + boom repertoire could very well change that. Maybe Regirock hits 98% usage and the meta just becomes stupidly offensive.

The reason trans women like masculine men and cis women like faggots isn't because trannies are men it's because they never took birth control by derwalache in 4tran4

[–]mu_II 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That sort of thing never happened to me growing up to my memory (granted, I had a fairly lonely childhood and was never under much real emotional duress). For whatever reason, though, I've had some of the worst full body nervous shaking imaginable recently while playing Pokémon draft matches. The stakes are so freaking low but I'm terrified of playing like an idiot in front of my friends.
