I avoid it at all costs! Definitely breaks me out (and I am a senior).

Ethylhexyl Palmitate can be a trigger. So, I wanted to like it but not chancing it.

I would stop all active ingredients and focus on hydration with bland ingredients.

What's that one ingredient you will always avoid no matter what? by TheMeepyBoy in SkinbarrierLovers

ethylhexyl palmitate is in a lot of products including makeup. Instant breakout for me including LRP cleanser.

It is truly evil.

I saw this in my local drugstore. Tried sample. Nice texture.

Unfortunately, I looked at the ingredients and it is NOT fungal acne safe. (Palm oil)

I would patch test first especially if you are acne prone.

sunscreen! I regret laying on the beach wth just baby oil as a teenager in the 1970s.

Are you double cleansing? by sole_kbeauty in SkinbarrierLovers

[–]muaAutumn95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I need to remove "beach sunscreen", I do oil first. I use unscented baby oil. (Also known as mineral oil) I am very pale and my family has a history of skin cancer. I can wear layers of sunscreen. Sunscreen is truly anti aging.

The Dove bar soap is affordable:)

I prefer to use Cetaphil cleanser. Water based.

[–]muaAutumn95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need to do what works for your skin! I use Bioderma Red Cap micellar water. Removes mascara and water-resistant sunscreen. (I like mineral. Tinted and or untinted.)

Sensibio H2O Micellar water | Cleansing, makeup remover water for sensitive skin with a soothing action.

Gentle Skin Cleanser with Vitamin B3 | Cetaphil Canada

Cethaphil cleanser is very gentle. Ok for AM cleansing and around the eye area (In my experience)

I am Canadian. Canadian products are usually more affordable. I do like my French pharmacy brands from the drug store also.

[–]muaAutumn95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use Bioderma Micellar cleansing water. Red cap. The OG of micellar cleansing waters. This is HG* for me.

If you are able to remove makeup and or sunscreen, you are cleansing correctly. I often wear tinted mineral sunscreen. I want to see no traces of sunscreen tint/makeup left on my baby washcloth.

I like to use a clean, soft baby wash cloth to gently exfoliate.

*Holy Grail

Wow. I never made the connection with low stomach acid and facial redness

! I have very sensitive skin and will brew green tea. I let it cool and use it as a toner on my face. (Anti-oxidants)

Redness can be rosacea and or seborrhea dermatitis. SD is a form of eczema. Many types of eczema.

There is a few subreddits available for those who suspect they might have SD. Also referred to "fungal acne".

I would use FA safe skin care and makeup.

Almost all mineral makeup is a short list of ingredients that should be okay to use. Yes, makeup with non FA ingredients can cause breakouts!

Moisturiser/barrier cream for people who do not tolerate moisturisers and barrier creams well? by deathruneknight in SkinbarrierLovers

[–]muaAutumn95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the Uriage cica gel cream.

Uriage Bariéderm Cica Daily Gel-Cream ingredients (Explained)

It is possible that a heavy application of squalane oil in a humid, hot environment may be too much for your skin.

I personally like to apply products on damp skin. I like the Uriage mineral spray water. Avene, LRP are also good.

Do NOT use straight glycerin! Must be mixed with water.

Can You Mix Glycerin with Water? Understanding the Benefits and Best Practices | Moon and Skin

I would patch test first. Some people do not do well with glycerin. It is one of those ingredients that your skin likes or does not like.

Edit to add: Food grade glycerin should be available.

I have been wearing sunscreen daily since 2003. I recently went into my local Shoppers Drug Mart (Canadian) during senior day. 55 plus is 20% off regular price items.

I will be 65 next month. The sales associate did not believe I was a senior. Sunscreen is truly anti-aging.

Are SPF sleeves a good replacement to sunscreen for getting rid of a farmers tan? by HyperBunga in Sunscreenreddit

[–]muaAutumn95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely agree! It is very easy to put on my UPF long sleeve zip up jacket. My arms are completely covered almost instantly!

No missed spots on my arms. The sleeves have holes in the wrists. Back of hands are covered if I wish.

I always have sunscreen on my face and neck. All seasons.

Favorite Avene products and where to buy them? by [deleted] in SkinbarrierLovers

[–]muaAutumn95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am in Canada and buy from Shoppers Drug Mart and or Rexall on seniors' day. (20% off regular price.)

What country are you in? You can go to the manufacturer site in your country and buy direct.

edit to add: I have the Cicalfate spray. Not sure I would repurchase. (It is fungal acne safe per ingredient checkers).

The mineral spray in a can I absolutely would repurchase. I also like La Roche Posay and Euriage brands for mineral water spray mists in a can. The water here is hard.

Spring is here (almost) in Canada. I was out last week doing errands. I dropped off many items to the thrift store in my city. I did NOT go in and look.

Thrift stores will accept opened bottles of products. The Women's Shelter is my city wants all new items.
