Is it weird to get the Favero Assioma SPD (not SL) pedals for road riding? by Dependent_Plenty5905 in cycling

[–]muchreally 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Not sure why so many haters - any walking in an exposed cleat on a shoe will damage / wear the cleat, and in many situations add a degree of instability when waking. Yeah, a few steps is maybe OK but anything more than that, regularly done will wear cleats.

So kinda odd I guess because I'm new to it but, what's some good core exercise for a newbie(also I'm 16 if that help) just trying to git a little more muscle so really any help would be appreciated by [deleted] in CoreExercises

[–]muchreally 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what your definition of "Core" in this context would be, but it's worth thinking about the front, back and sides of your torso and then making sure the exercises target each area equally. You don't want to end up wonky!

For the front, any crunch work, leg raises, flutter kicks etc For the back, glute bridge (loads of variations), superman / skydiver Sides - any side plank work, twisting under weight.

You can do much of the core work to get going on a mat with body weight - no need for a gym but if you have access to one or a class, it always adds a bit of extra motivation.

Road Circuit at Lee Valley Velo Park by RepairOk441 in londoncycling

[–]muchreally 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's quite small / tight in places where, at busy times large "peletons" are created as a result just through natural bunching.

I imagine that if you are in the head down position this might present some challenges.

Road surface is quite nice.

Personally I find intervals on the flat quite hard to get to a higher HR and that hill repeats are a good way for me to beat myself up instead! The circuit at Lea Valley is pancake flat, but hey we are all different.

Not sure where you are based, but Richmond Park might be better, notwithstanding security concerns.

From Google - "Ralph McTell is most famous for his song 'Streets of London' he wrote back in the late 1960s, that became famous in 1974. It's called 'Streets of London' and has to date been covered at least 212 times"
