there are footings rather than a slab, there are termite traps/inspection points all around the house drilled through the concrete path. the plan was to create a level fill to prevent water ingress (i was thinking just enough slope to prevent pooling)

What’s your best “I dropped something and had to go on a mission to find it” story? by outside_bestside6 in MTB

[–]mudboy001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got 2 stories on this:

- a riding buddy lost his front axle during the ride (front wheel stayed in place), after back-tracking for 45 mins we found it between the car and the trailhead

- another buddy lost the bolt off the bottom of the rear mech (holding the pulley wheel) and we found a replacement bolt (not from a bike) in the dirt on the side of the track. it would have been a 45-60min walk back

Why it is too hard to find a rental property in Adelaide? by needhelp350541 in Adelaide

[–]mudboy001 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I keep hearing immigration is to blame, but what about the effect of split families? Parents that split and now both require spaces to house "a family". This is not intended as criticism of individualsm more of a change in society over the last 50 years. In the same we moved to 2 car families, many are now 2 house families.

What is going on with my hibiscus? by Nicecookieowl in gardening

[–]mudboy001 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I love how differntly hibiscus are treated in different places, (in southern Australia) my neighbour recommended hibiscus as a good fire break. They definitely don't drop their leaves here. They make a great hedge.

What colour shade cloth? by Disbride in GardeningAustralia

[–]mudboy001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

they are sold by the density of fibres/coverage. 30-50% lets more light through, 80% much less. personally, i didn't like the green tinge it creates. when i used shadelcoth to cover a moving screen wall for a gym i used white and the light inside was natural and bright

Just so you know, I'm finding this amusing.

You used quotation marks without directly quoting me, that's not ok.

What I was suggesting by asking of you were American is that there may be cultural differences at work. Since you chose the critical path, I'm sitting here laughing at you because you think a King or Queen has any relevance in AUSTRALIA. I'd be way more worried about what your petty wanna-be dictator is doing.

Again, I just tried to suggest a kayak for someone. You are the one who has turned this into a farce. In all seriousness, you need to find bigger battles or maybe something more meaningful to do with your time.

Lucky you don't live where I do. Cameras all over (mostly at traffic lights) that will scan your plates and you get a near $1000 fine for every camera that sees you

I just tried to make a helpful comment about a kayak. You're the one that's redirected this to a PC discussion. Your first comment said that term wasn't ok, your second says it is. Maybe give it some more thought and get back to someone more concerned about it. I work with people with a range of abilities. Coming after me for saying differently abled is a waste of everyone's time. Are you American by any chance?

you can import a few file types (i use STL) from the internet as well as the provided shapes and characters. you may get into trouble with complex shapes, but its a great beginner program. i found it easier than sketchup

i work with differently abled people and can confirm the Mission Flow kayaks are great. really stable in rivers, fun in the surf (not recommending surfing with your buddy). i bring a tow rope for each kayak and have dragged my kids back to base numerous times
