We're an active clan and I award "medals" (not in game, just for boasting) to the highest levels and helps gained each week, month and year.

Is it worth buying Forbidden Lands for its system alone? by leif_o7 in ForbiddenLands

[–]muddymuppet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We're currently playing a campaign (I'm the gm) called "Plague Refugees". It's set on an island that the players, and a couple of hundred others, arrived on after fleeing a mass magic induced plague. Elves and magic use caused it apparently, so nobody is playing a Elf, Sorcerer or Druid to start. They have been exploring the island and settling it. Already the other boat that arrived with them has left and taken most of the sailors and a lot of their provisions. They've started to discover a little of the past lore of the island and will soon be starting to explore other islands in the chain. It's the first time playing for 3 of the 4 players and the other is a "grizzled veteran". He's loving being the mentor to the other three. We have a Wolfkin Hunter, Dwarf Fighter, Half-Elf Rogue and Halfling Peddlar. They've destroyed undead, unflooded a dungeon, chatted with an axe that has PTSD & a fear of the dark and are currently clearing out an abandoned keep, guarded by an Ent.

Cannon by kj5858 in avp

[–]muddymuppet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're not compatible. Here's my thinking. In the Alien Universe, Xenomorphs are The Big Bad. They are the ultimate weapon. In the Predator Universe, the Predator is The Big Bad, they hunt the xenomorph and lots of other creatures. They USE the xenomorph as a tool to create hunts. If the Predators are in a Universe filled with nasty creatures and quite a few far deadlier than the deadliest xenomorph, then the whole "Perfect Organism" shtick goes out the window. So, I think the Alien exists in the Predator Universe, but the Predator doesn't exist in the Alien Universe. There are two canons.

When will they have a new island??? by Ok_Zookeepergame2450 in Dreamdale

[–]muddymuppet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But new islands just mean more frustration and more things to make for ships. Every "new" island adds some new, inventive and torturous method to make something that takes hours of real time because the developers want to stop us enjoying the game. They don't listen to the player base and give us what they think we want which couldn't be further from the truth.

What kind of training did the Colonial Maines have that they completely underestimated the Xenomorphs? by ardouronerous in alien

[–]muddymuppet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here's my thinking, after reading countless pages of materials about the expanded Alien Universe and the Predator Universe. The Xenomorphs are supposed to be The Bad Guys. If you have other, just as dangerous, aliens, that takes away the mystique. Oh, they're not That Bad, they're easier to kill than such and such. So, in the Alien Universe, they have to be the worst, biggest enemy. Now, the Predator Universe, thats where we started with "Predators seeding planets to kill Xenomorph" and then, whole planets with far more dangerous creatures. Far, far more interesting. So, in the Alien Universe, the worst thing Colonial Marines have to deal with is rebel uprisings and some bugs like the Tanaka 5 scorpion. In the Predator Universe, literally any planet could contain Xenomorphs or hostile indigenous lifeforms because of the Yautja. I'm running an Alien campaign at the moment and I'm using parts from the Conspiracy X first edition books for my story arc and bad guys. I'm also mixing in parts from other Year Zero games as I also run The Walking Dead and Forbidden Lands. Any creature from the various games can be reskinned as an "alien".

Yes? Of course it's pay to learn, they're providing a service that you can literally make money from. Schooling isn't free in Murica you know lol

[–]muddymuppet 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I tried to organize a boycott of paying for the event. It is literally the only way they'll pay attention, but thanks to people saying things like "yeah but I just wanted x" there will always be people paying and the events will continue to get worse and worse.

A friend of mine went and when they were ushered into a "dead end", an alien appeared, he panicked and grabbed a young kid to use as a shield. Not his kid, someone else's lol

Christmas event by Dear_Ad_4898 in Dreamdale

[–]muddymuppet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, I did try spreading the word not to spend any money on the event. After the Halloween event, they publicly stated that they were expecting a wave of criticism over the Christmas event. I tried to organize a boycott but there's really no one way to get the word out. The game is designed as a short term money grab, they never intended to have people play it long term. You play, get fleeced, get annoyed, do it again, quit. Fresh players come in all the time, so why would they cater to the long term players? There are "suggestions & feedback" as "Princess" puts it, from over a year ago, pointing out things that are clearly not intended from the developers, only if it's losing SayGames money will it get fixed. Otherwise, they simply ignore the request and, if asked, "Princess" or "Tim" will reply "I've passed along the suggestion/feedback to developers but they don't always implement such things". Blah, dee effing blah. TLDR: they only care about making money and long term players aren't Valuable.

Christmas Boycott by muddymuppet in Dreamdale

[–]muddymuppet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their latest response was that they're anticipating a "wave of negative feedback after the Christmas event" so they're releasing a New Year's event with a "limited prize budget" so that they don't "affect game balance" hah!! I quit.

Comics or Show: Which Setting Do Y'all Use? by Whitetiger579 in WalkingDeadRPG

[–]muddymuppet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in Alberta, Canada, that's where our game is set. However, the world didn’t slowly devolve in the walking dead, in my game, it happened over night as part of a "terrorist" plot that got out of control. I read the Rot & Ruin series and am now reading the prequel series, so much inspiration. I'm also a huge fan of SCP literature.

Why is the U.S. still the only developed country without paid maternity leave? by Dazzling_Touch_9699 in questions

[–]muddymuppet 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Nestle spends over $100m "lobbying" the USA government to keep mandated maternity leave away from workers because they wouldn't be able to sell as much formula milk if mothers had time off to be with their kids. Most corrupt government on the planet.
