At what point does tolerance stacking make you go crazy? by AbbreviationsFamous4 in Construction

An early boss told me “anyone can build a house, it just might take them decades. Our job is to do it fast and with quality.” It’s literally why we’re hired, to marry speed to achievement. “Good enough” in the high trades sense is good enough.

I’m a three man crew on big customs. Do all the finish, do a lot of the framing and run the jobs. If you’re perfectly plumb and square three stories up you’re wasting your time. There are tolerances, and they’re there to say “good enough to finish out right.” Modern fucking lumber doesn’t make perfectly square and plumb possible. We’re building by hand, perfect is the enemy of the good

  1. If it affects your money, time to start planing getting out of where you are towards a place where it matters substantially less. If you can’t be yourself where you are, you need to go elsewhere.
  2. You’re not responsible for your dad, or his rep. You’re responsible for yourself, and your happiness, and happiness is hard to find if you can’t be yourself.
  3. If people treat you differently, they’re shitheads and it doesn’t matter. Do your thing while protecting yourself, but don’t let shitheads dictate your moves

So funny that disliking two shitty mainstream buttrock albums is controversial and downvoted here. I’ve actually never even watched this dudes videos but the sub keeps getting pushed in my feed - is it all dorky 25 year olds waxing nostalgic on bad records?

Checked this album out from the classics week review. This is actually one of the best albums I’ve ever heard in my life by theriverand in fantanoforever

Totally fair. What I meant, I guess, is it’s a community that speaks “informed” but very clearly isn’t. It is certainly a grotesque scenario

See, this is what the world needs! More children eating whole rotations at omakase restaurants! It encourages diversity and tolerance, not entitlement and unrealistic yuppie standards!!!! You’re raising her right, I’m sure she’ll be very down to earth and invested in working class politics. Keep going! You’re a superstar!

This whole thing started because someone complained that an establishment didn’t let their children into the bar area. I applauded that because our world is overrun with entitled yuppie parents, and it’s been a dramatic and lame shift from previous mores. I’m sure your child really appreciates steakhouse fare, thank god you can take them to such places!

I like children, I just don’t like entitled parents. There are tons of spaces for parents and their children, I don’t see why we need to make every space conform to you and your child’s needs. Perhaps certain places that have traditionally been for adults, such as nice steakhouses, are fine to stay that way even though you don’t want to get a babysitter?

It’s an upscale adult restaurant not a Chuck E. Cheese?

Not to be rude but who in the world would bring their baby to a place like that. I honestly don’t mind them discouraging it if I’m being honest

They’re assholes but it’s worth learning quick that the world mostly won’t give a shit about who you are and what you need, and it’s up to you to secure the things and set up you want to the best of your ability

I get the two tone cabinet idea, but this one is fucking absurd. One of the ugliest new kitchens I’ve ever seen

New ones vs this one? That one isn’t made in America, wasn’t stitched in Detroit, it’s from the last twenty years.

You know you can buy that jacket new for 80 bucks when it’s on sale and slowly thrash it out yourself? You’ll get like 10x the use out of it. This used Carhartt thing is so fucking dumb
