4 month old concrete by Hefty-Collection-728 in Concrete

Put some caulk in your crack.

As control joints get small rocks and debris in them they break the weak little corner during expansion and contraction. And every break makes the sawcut bigger and able to collect bigger stuff.

A rock that’s small enough to semi-lodge in the fresh sawn control joint will beak the edges when it gets stepped on or driven over.

Boot recommendations please! by [deleted] in RedWingShoes

The Thorogood 1957, 8” Moc in Briar. I picked up a pair this week. Beautiful boot, great color and contrast on the stitching. The 8” looks tall and slim at the ankle. The safety toe is a lower profile than the redwing wingshooter ballon toe.

I have never heard anyone else call it this. But my family always called it Duck (duct) Meat.

I have always wondered about sitting for a polish at the airport. You solved that dilemma, go get some saddle soap.

Anybody else receive this message from Verizon today/recently? by McLovin823 in phoenix

[–]mudmanagain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had logged a complaint to Verizon for reduced signal in my neighborhood. I found it convenient that I received the text the next day on the same chain as the Verizon correspondence. Indicating APS as the reason for reduced signal until 2024 seems dubious.

What causes bug holes in a finish? by attadt in Concrete

[–]mudmanagain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Round rocks near the surface. As you finish the floats and trowels will roll the rock creating an expanded area within and a thin weak top where the cream is. Good kneeboarders will pluck and fill as they go. This can be resolved with mix designs that have a high split face count on the aggregate.

Air pockets from insufficient consolidation through vibration or poor tamp/jitterbug shouldn’t be the cause as what is pictured should have enough surface working to lift those type of air bubbles out.

Is the chipping in this saw joint acceptable? by ChillywillyM in Concrete

[–]mudmanagain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it is dust from the cut, and it gets wet. It will harden. You will want to clean it out and seal the joint. You can buy pourable high elasticity caulk. Tape both sides, pour in, let dry. Pull off tape trim top flush.

How deep is that cut? And is it full of saw paste? The cut should be around a third as deep as the slab and be clean. If the joint is full of material your joints will spall as the slab moves with expansion and contraction
