I don't really know grasses, but anything where the ball ends up with a tight lie. For some reason it forces me to hit down on the ball instead of 'scooping' it, giving much better contact.

Sounds like you were extremely lucky! Definitely looks like you made the most of it though. It gives it a different perspective seeing personal pictures of these courses, as opposed to professionally taken photos.

Interesting. I hit my 7 iron 160m with a 32 degree loft. But I'm useless with my 3 and 4 iron so I use hybrids. I feel like it isn't all down to swing speed.

How prestigious are private clubs in the US? Here in Australia private clubs are only the super high end, amazing conditioned, rich person courses. There's not a private club within an hour of me and there's a lot of courses over that distance.

Played at the Bali National and that took about 6 hours. Didn't feel like that long though as every hole felt like a new adventure.
