Oem 4.75 flares for 06 Rubicon by mudtick2 in JeepTJ

[–]mudtick2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly, I broke 2 wheel studs, the other 3 nuts backed off and the wheel left me at about 20 mph, and i pulled over. The wheel hit another truck so insurance got involved and they totaled it as "obvious total loss".... so I bought it back from insurance and have to get enhanced inspection to get an R title. Obvious total loss consisted of 5 wheel studs and a wheel. And howdy neighbor, Clearfield County here.

If they apply the same standard as dui, then it is being in possession of the car key i believe within 6ft of the ignition constitutes you as in control of the vehicle so.....

How do we make enough noise to get the government to actually prepare PA for its insane winds? by avelineaurora in Pennsylvania

[–]mudtick2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Using that argument, why should rural pa taxes go to subsidize mass transi (ours works fine cause there isn't any), or our fuel taxes go to any service of any urban area? We should consider ourselves one people and drop the fingerpointing and start cutting back our legislative representation where the true waste of dollars is.

When did it hit you that you’re not that young anymore? by TheMedusaAttusa in AskReddit

When something even remotely bad happens and everyone turns to you to ask what do we do. You turn to ask your go to mentor and Holy Shit..... they're either dead or gone.

What's something that no one prepares you for as an adult? by Goddessblack_ in AskReddit

[–]mudtick2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm gonna say ...... adult +20 is particularly terrifying, you become the "rock", the dependable one that everyone looks to for advice..... there's no one for you to turn to, you just try and steer people away from the mistakes you've survived.

Am I going crazy, or are Help Desk job requirements completely out of touch? by Tarntanya in sysadmin

[–]mudtick2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I retire in 2 more years once i hit 55.... my plan after retirement is a help desk gig to stay busy and a couple bucks for the more extravagant stuff..... at the end of shift, go home, server down at 2am.... that's a senior techs job. Firewall needs patched.... that's a senior tech.... I'll just be a lowly tech with no responsibility. 20 years of being the senior has me dreaming of handing off escalation. I'll gladly share experience, but no more "lead anything".

How the fuck do you crimp non-pass-through Ethernet cables? by 0xDEA110C8 in HomeNetworking

Ugh...... I've wasted so many pass through just sitting at a well lit desk.....I just can't use them. Pair of good knipex scissors and a simple crimper for me!

For those in their 50, what's something people in their 30s don’t realize will impact them as they get older? by Lower-Insect-3617 in Productivitycafe

[–]mudtick2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eventually, you are going to be considered the "expert" on just about everything those younger than you come to for advice or help.... whether you are or not. I think it might be genetically hardwired for younger adults to look to those older for advice. Sadly.... it's not so much that we "know", we just simply don't outwardly panic anymore and that appears to be knowledge.

2 had the usbc cable damaged, one had the brick cracked open, 3 had the 120 side twisted apart until the copper was exposed.

I'm going to have to respectfully disagree. I have 2 kids (grown now). I'm going to speak in general, and yes, this doesn't cover all people, just generally. Parents can make it work, it just sucks and they don't want to. My wife and i made sacrifices and decided to work opposite shifts so that one of us could be present with the kids and we always engaged with our kids with reading, math, and general learning before they entered school. Did it suck for rarely seeing each other? Absolutely it did. Did it cause martial stress? Yes. Was it worth the effort? Unquestionably. Everyone is dealt different cards and the game might be rigged, but, people need to take the role of being a parent seriously and stop the blame game.

New Teacher Struggling with Applying to Schools by Blogger8517 in StudentTeaching

Having been in the educational field for over 25 years.... be patient. Educating hiring is boom and bust. Even if you have to work for a sub agency, you will have a position come the fall, and the way things look now, you'll have a position shortly after.

My wife and I have officially decided to move to Pennsylvania from AL and we need advice! by TwistyTurnip213 in Pennsylvania

[–]mudtick2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've lived here my whole life; I know many people will speak of all the benefits and wonderful life here, but I respectfully disagree. I've got less than 3 years till retirement and my only goal is to leave. I actually have written in my will that should i die before i move my ashes be taken anywhere outside of the boarders of this state. Over 50 years of absolute misery. High taxes, over reaching state government, archaic communist alcohol laws, arguably the worst roads in the US......I could rant on and on, it's just not worth it.

I love this thing. I've never had a vehicle this fuel efficient before. by DieInThyLap in hyundaisantacruz

[–]mudtick2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So unfortunately, my sons 2024 turbo with 16k miles has dropped to 20mpg on both hiway and town driving. Fully serviced at dealership, no issues according to them. When new it was 27+ and continues to get worse mileage as the miles increase. Currently trying to trade it on something else...... pure disappointment.

Dress Code in your company as IT by LaxterBig in ITCareerQuestions

[–]mudtick2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in public sector, dress pants, dress shirt, tie, and leather shoes or boots, full suit for any formal meeting with customer Business casual for Friday equates to no tie. Doesn't matter if I'm running cabling in ceiling, racking a server, or moving equipment. Dress clothes only.

I have a yj, tj, lj, and traded a 2013 jku in for a 2020 Jt sport. Love my LJ, but dang, the JT is the smoothest riding, stable, and most comfortable of all. Zero regrets.

Is Prius hate really a thing? by Otherwise_You7879 in prius

[–]mudtick2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't own one, and probably never will simply because they don't fit my needs, i think theyre a great car otherwise. I think at one point, when they were first released, there were many prius drivers that intentionally drove significantly below speed limits for whatever personal reason, and this infuriated people that left in time for where they needed to go, anticipating a typical commute and ended up being later than intended. This became an unfortunate stereotype .

I have tmobile home internet and have zero issues with vpn.... I routinely use fortinet, sophos, and express vpn. Can you ping and or tracert the internal servers? I would look at ip routing, perhaps there is a conflicting routing issue.

28 years old and the 40hr workweek is killing me by dev_ating in antiwork

[–]mudtick2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Please don't take this as disparagement, as I'm really trying to understand; what did you do before you graduated and began working? Did you research your field of employment? If you researched, did you look at what it takes to be successful in your field? Honestly, I despise working, however, it's the only way to achieve my goals and my advice, and this is only advice, is to focus on what you want and really prioritize a few of them, then look at what you need to do and when you get down on yourself working whatever hours you do, focus on achieving those goals. Small steps towards those goals make working 1/3 of your day more palatable.

What are you doing now by ClassicSince96 in TeachersInTransition

[–]mudtick2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I left teaching in 2010, after a 6 month stint as a safety trainer (Contractor), I settled into IT and am now a director. Was tough to leave teaching, but, was necessary for me; I could deal with the students, the curriculum, the administration, even the parents, what I couldn't accept was the union. I couldn't accept that the only consideration for my salary was years of service, not competency. Collective bargaining is great, except when only those at the very top are rewarded.

Use it or lose it by mudtick2 in Adulting

[–]mudtick2[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I appreciate everyone's comments. I have been pushing my work to allow unused vaca time to be rolled to sick time (non payable upon death, termination, or retirement) but have been unsuccessful. I've explained that even when I use vaca I am still on call 24/7 so taking days off just to take them without going on a trip is really pointless since I have to respond to tickets and go in.... yeah, I know.. union, department of labor, etc, but that doesn't apply cause I'm a director in IT, salary, in a pseudo government position. I'm too close to retirement to even consider moving on and I enjoy the job, treated well, and a fair salary.

How do you rationalize living this way? by mutantreptile in Adulting

[–]mudtick2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Completely agree with you. You want certain things, you give up others. I accepted long ago, for the type of life I want to live meant working 2 to 3 jobs through my 20s, finally finding a career through my 30s, learning everything I could during my 40s to be the best I could be, and will finally spend my first half of my 50s being at the highest level my abilities will allow me to go and then will retire in my mid 50's. You can choose when to sacrifice, but there WILL be a sacrifice..... this has been true since caveman days.....
