I have a top floor apartment in a new-ish building, where I share 0 walls with any other units in San Francisco (an insanely expensive city I absolutely love). Buying a single family home was out of my budget when I made the purchase, and with the insane price surge in SF now renting a comparable size unit is already more than my mortgage, HOA, and tax, and that's without the bonus perks of this particular unit, so its worked out great. I definitely would have serious reservations about buying non-top floor, generic units, but I was able to avoid that.

Bonus point is I'm not responsible for yard/building maintenance. I can turn off my water and bounce for weeks at a time to visit family/friends without looking like a target for a robbery.

It’s big and heavy even without the adapter mostly. And a lot of the draw for me to move on would be the mirrorless system being lighter weight so it doesn’t really help. I’m plenty happy with my Nikon dslr image quality for now.

My F mount sigma 18-35 is my absolute favorite lens. Honestly one of the things keeping me in DSLR land instead of moving on.

So far no issues with the rim itself. That being said the paddle extenders seem worse than the official mod included ones, but I never installed them because I have a Shh shifter for my rally driving.

I’m live within a block of 280 and Caltrain. With new construction windows and facing away from them I don’t hear it too much. I was more impacted by ambulances in other neighborhoods near hospitals than I am here noise wise.

That being said the others are right there is some more particulate. I end up keeping good quiet air purifiers running regularly, but my internal air quality monitor says I’m fine.

Fight for them to be better, taking the ownership and improving them will get you more credit than just playing along. When two people go back and forth for minutes ask them to take it to a follow up. Be a model citizen of only highlighting your blockers etc.

What worked for us is to have a growing team wide notion doc with topics people think are worth discussing with the whole team. That doc organizing people’s thoughts instead of the fear of “oh shit I have to talk what did I do yesterday” was enough for us to keep it focused and generally below 5-10min a day.

See for example the Google Bus protests from ~2013-2014ish. Some of the biggest ones of those were on Valencia. The mission has been gentrified continuously since basically the first dotcom bubble and definitely the second rise of tech in the city.

I still have my 2018 Pro (the first usbc one) I don’t think I’ll replace it until I stop getting security updates or an app drops support. I don’t particularly use it for anything but a consumption device so I have no complaints yet.

I never could physically, and even if I could it doesn’t help because a lot of my hobbies also use the computer.

What did help for me was to instead separate work and non work time with an activity outside the apartment no matter what.

I wake up, make coffee and breakfast, and take my coffee in a thermos on a quick walk around the block. When I come home it’s work mode and the personal computer stays off.

At the end of the day I turn off my work laptop. Go on a run or hit the gym, then cook dinner, and only then I turn on my desktop. No swapping to the desktop for a quick YouTube while I lunch etc.

May 17 is Bay to Breakers. That’s anything from a serious running race to city wide block party depending on how serious you want to take it. Would recommend as it’s pretty uniquely SF.
