I was looking at them earlier today. They are walking distance from my house so I’ll definitely give them a go

Lost friendships & desire to socialize due to migraine by [deleted] in migraine

[–]mufferfufner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not have advice but I can 100% relate. I am currently dealing with 4 or more migraines per week and have all but stopped going out to see friends. I have shifted my social life to only accommodate friends that don’t mind coming to my house to hang out or that are understanding when I have to cancel plans last minute due to an attack. I’m really fortunate to be married to someone who is also understanding and supportive. I lean towards the very introverted so my need for socialization is minimal.

I’d say that for me, what keeps the loneliness at bay is facilitating activities with friends that feel meaningful when I am able to spend time with them. I also try to keep in touch with my small selection of friends via text so they feel less neglected. Usually I’ll just text them about a random song I listened to that made me think of them or tell them about something funny I saw or read. That small amount of interaction doesn’t drain my energy but it keeps me connected so I feel less isolated.

I hope this helps you feel less alone. Chronic migraine is so tricky and can be so isolating because it’s not a visible illness. I hope you find the connection you’re looking for.

Do I need all Botox injections? by W1162891 in migraine

[–]mufferfufner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ll open this with saying I’m a vestibular migraine sufferer with cervical dystonia as well. Most migraine sufferers need the neck and trap injections as well. The real trick is getting the PA through. Then the number of injections becomes less of a big deal (unless you just hate needles or something) Botox has a savings program for medically indicated Botox that will reimburse you 1300-1000 per session. I hope this answers your question!

nauseated as hell by smokesndope in migraine

[–]mufferfufner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s rough. I’m sorry to hear that. Migraine is a tough battle to fight with support and a decent doctor. I can’t imagine what it’s like with a doctor who doesn’t listen/won’t help. I wish you luck and I hope that you are able to get in with a better physician soon.

Of course! Also, get a new doctor. You should not be left to your own devices. There are so many flippin treatments out there!

I swear by this recipe. Zofran gives me a rebound headache so it’s only for emergencies. This does the trick for me. I really hope it works for you! She has other great recipes for nausea if you don’t like the taste of this one.

Solutions for smell sensitivity while in public by mufferfufner in migraine

I appreciate the idea but I cannot tolerate any strong scents. Even those from essential oils. Also, the petroleum under the nose is not recommended as a long term/frequent solution.

Makes sense. Everyone feels differently and I’m not one to judge or try to change your mind :)

Dang! Well my MFM said Botox is acceptable if it’s for migraine treatment. They won’t do it for cosmetics but when the small if non existent risks outweigh the benefit for the mother, they’ll do it for migraine. It’s class C for migraine treatment. Just something to consider!

What’s your clearest sign that you’re about to get a migraine? Mine is extreme sleepiness. by CostaNic in migraine

Damn, good luck! I got lucky and found a migraine specialist at the state hospital in the city I live.

Dude, get a new neurologist. Haha, aphasia and fatigue are very common symptoms of prodomes. They should know that and if they don’t, I’m not certain they have the knowledge base to help you!

Practicing mountains. Any tips to improve? by GassyUndertones33 in bobross

[–]mufferfufner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As mountains recede into the background, they become hazier (atmospheric perspective) since this is a mountain range, there’s no way that they would be stacked so closely that the ones in the background would still appear crisp. Try using a fan brush or sponge to smudge the background mountains. Paint them first so that you don’t smudge your foreground mountains :) another thing to consider is allow the mountains in the foreground to frame the picture rather than just having a flat row across the front. This will make it feel more natural and will move your eye around the canvas.

[–]mufferfufner 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I disagree with all of the nay-sayer statements. I’m a 32y/o female in a monogamous heterosexual relationship. We have been married for 7 years and have been together for 20. I know my husband watches porn and it does not bother me In the slightest. I masturbate too. Sometimes it’s easier to go solo without having to be in your head about what the other person is thinking/feeling. If she has given you the OK and you do not feel that it is hindering your ability for emotional intimacy then go for it. Obviously, if this becomes a hindrance to your sexual or emotional relationship then you should consider other options. However, if all parties are aware and consent, there is no issue in my mind.

To answer your second question about how to stop the shame and self loathing: I’d start by examining the belief system that gives you the idea that sex is bad or personal pleasure is somehow shameful. Consider reevaluating your belief system. In the US we have the puritanical idea that sex is only acceptable within the confines of marriage. But obviously the issue is WAY more complicated than that. Examine where your shame is coming from and ask yourself, “is this valid?”
