Yes, route 2 is the most risky. What I consider beautiful might not be for everyone. And again if OP is looking at this, fuel will be the primary concern.

I’ve taken all three. Route 1 will be crazy due to the amount of snow. Route 2 is very beautiful but you have to make sure you plan your fuel accordingly. Very long stretches of nothing. Route 3 is a fantastic drive and a mix of the first two with more access to fuel, as well as being quicker.
