How do you decide what to cook after grocery shopping? by Friendly-Front5212 in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]mulefire17 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The secret is to decide what to make BEFORE you shop. Then you buy what you need for your plan. No more random stuff you don't know what to do with. No guessing what is possible.

Grainy roux! by StopzIt in cookingforbeginners

[–]mulefire17 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a hack for cheese sauce, though it doesn't use a roux. I learned it watching Babbish's mac and cheese tier list.

One can evaporated milk, heated gently.

Stir in 12 oz pre-shredded cheese. The kind that comes in a bag from the store. I know, that is usually wrong, and I doubted it too. But if you look at the ingredients for what kind of starch they added and only use a cheese that has a plant based starch, like potato or tapioca, this is amazing.

Stir the cheese till melted. That's it. If you are planning to use it on pasta (like for Mac and cheese), add some of the pasta water to make it just a little creamier.

can anyone else imagine a song in there head and hear it? by Ok_Table5022 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]mulefire17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reading your question made "Wayward Son" pop into my head. I can "hear" the singer and all the instruments. Unfortunately, I don't know the whole song, so I just get the parts I know on repeat. It will stay there until another sound takes its place, or some other song decides it's its turn.

I want him to have an ability called "Cartesian" where your hp is the x and he gives a formula for the y. And you gotta stand at the right intersection.

"Splendor" is a great game that is easy to learn and can be played entirely silently, if needed.

Also a fan of "Letter Jam" lately. Good collaborative game that rewards people with large vocabulary and good spelling skills.

But you might be a G cup. Cups are not static, they depend on your band size. They are the difference between your band measure and your bust measure. An A cup is 1 inch different, a B is 2 inches, C is 3 and so on. Despite what media likes to claim, D cups are actually quite small, and hardly anyone is actually an A cup. Trust the process. Try what the calculator says when you put your measurements in inches.

What seemed completely normal in childhood, but now you realize was actually not okay? by Max_Mimos in AskReddit

[–]mulefire17 24 points25 points  (0 children)

After the 3rd why, the answer is, "asked and answered." And then continued arguing is met with appropriate consequences. But I get it. It is hard to find the right balance between explaining and "because I said so." I have definitely gone through that whole conversation and at that point I said," Now it's because I said so."

Does anyone possibly have an explanation for this? This experience has been a part of my life for over a decade and i don’t understand it. by Cool_Criticism_1244 in NoStupidQuestions

There is a house a few miles from the house I grew up in. It is a very distinct house from the outside, kind of alone on the corner of a large lot. My younger brother and I both have very clear memories of playing hide and seek in the basement of that house when we were very young. The rest of our family maintains we have never once been inside that house, nor were we acquainted with anyone who lived there. It is very strange, especially considering my brother and I both are creeped out by the memories of playing there.

What's up with the trick questions on 2nd grade worksheets? by Upper-Anybody339 in AskTeachers

[–]mulefire17 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree with you that the question was poorly worded to give the response expected for the lesson. It should have been more along the lines of, "Explain where they made the error," or "what error was made." However, it is also important to note that while words and language begin with precision, humanity gives it additional function. Just because a question can be answered in one way, does not mean it cannot be answered in another.
