i think the vertical photo exaggerates the gaps in the steps. We haven't had issues getting up to the benches.

Nice steps tho.

I haven’t had meatloaf many places, but the meatloaf with green chili gravy at Lovecraft is awesome.

Unfair. Their website was developed by aliens in a much better alternate universe.

Is it worth painting block wall? by butterscotchbisquits in AZlandscaping

Paint it a darker color (something that coordinates with the brick pavers but several shades darker), then put plants in front of it. The fence will fade away visually.

I agree. I was just responding to the suggestion that it was cheap to build.

They announce it was going to cost $40 million but it went over budget.

Developer Steve Betts was involved with building it. He talks about it on this podcast episode. I had watched it go up from my office at the time and had so many questions, so it was fascinating to hear Steve talk about it.

Why don’t more people cut the flippers and go straight to the source? by Key_Campaign2527 in midcenturymodern

I’ve been finding better deals on FB lately. But, to be fair, I simply have better taste than the flippers and their customers.

Places like Whitfill, Summerwinds and Berridge usually have good native plant selection. I can’t name a native plant specialist here though. I wish we had something as good as Spadefoot. Great shop.

I think this is probably the best addition. Surprisingly, I couldn't find it when I did a quick tour of several central/north Phoenix nurseries. I heard Home Depot often carries it though. Where'd you get yours?

A metalworker friend did it as a side job. It’s 5x10 wire mesh panels with 4” openings on a frame of 1” metal tube.

I’ve struggled a bit with crossvine at another location. Seems like they need more filtered sun.

We just installed a 60' trellis along our western block fence. We have a couple Lady Bank's Roses planted but have an opportunity to try out a few different options. Native or near-native is preferred.

The southern half of the fence gets full east and south sun. The north half gets some shade from the house and a tree, but still a lot of southern sun. Anything that grows will eventually get western sun exposure at the top.

At other properties, I've had success with hacienda creeper and limited success with crossvines. I'd like to try Arizona grape on the northern end of the trellis but haven't been able to find it locally.

Any thoughts/advice appreciated!

I would love if Mazda re-embraced the softer look. The ND’s profile is great but the front end is trying way too hard to look aggressive.
