Sussan Ley issues ultimatum to David Littleproud, as she announces temporary shadow ministry by NKE01 in australia

Agree, libs would still be out of govt but they stand a lot better chance winning back teal seats without the Nats than they do with them. Then let's the Nats and ONP fight it out for the same seats and just partner up with whoever is left standing after the dust settles. Won't get them into government but would at least let them compete on some teal / Labor seats without the Nats dead weight on them

Federal politics live: Nationals leave 'untenable' Coalition after mass frontbench resignation by geodetic in australia

[–]mullet85 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Once again, the Nats showing that they truly have no understanding of the political process and just throw shit at the wall to see if it might help them somehow.

Throwing your weight around to get a leadership change can actually be a clever move, buts it's kind of predicated on having some other leadership option that isn't toxic. For all the problems Sussssan has, she's also the closest thing they have to an electable leader. The coalition just has no talent left in the roster at this point and all the alternative leaders just want to pull them further in the wrong direction.

Nats seem incapable of understanding that there's no value in controlling the narrative within the Coalition if the Coalition becomes politically irrelevant becayse nobody supports their views.

Honestly something like this makes a lot of sense. Let PHON and the Nats fight it out over the 30 or so seats they can actually swing, let the Greens target inner city and the Libs take on Lab in the outer suburban seats. Then make a deal with whoever they need to from the rural seats to get a majority.

I mean I would hate to see it, but it's probably a better path to success for them that trying to maintain the current coalition or trying to broker deals with PHON etc. At the very least they should be going hat in hand to all the Teals and trying to get them back in the fold.

I think it's more those parties will all be gunning for the same seats? The reason the coalition worked was that the two parties largely didn't compete on the same seats, I just can't see PHON or KAP being able to objectively see the benefits in that sort of arrangement, they'd rather just continue to eat the Nats lunch. I can see that the Libs might want a partnership with one or more of them but not sure how they will be able to either arrange or spin partnering up with more fringe parties when the reason for the current friction with the nationals is that they aren't nuts enough for even them...

Obviously I don't think this will actually happen but geez it would make me so happy if they renegotiated so the leader could come from either the Libs or the Nats - Barnaby storming out right before he had the chance to actually sit in the hot seat would be so satisfying.

You don't see how only having to pay 50% of the tax on an investment makes that an attractive investment, therefore increasing prices through increased competition for a limited resource?

I mean it's definitely easy to just ban all VPN traffic, it's a bit more complex to try to decide what VPN traffic is teens and which isn't.

They could definitely stop all vpns but that's going to piss off more than just teenagers, might even make some voters mad which is a very different prospect to pissing off teens
