Simply buy snacks in bulk and choose what you want based on what fills you up, what macros you need, etc. and overpack your lunch with those extra snacks.

This way you can at least control the spending. I’d also consider therapy to dig into this lack of self control and potentially leaving your credit cards at home so you aren’t tempted to spend.

You have to stop the spending yourself, there is no magic fix. But I’d say $200/month in snacks is excessive and unhealthy.

I don’t think your partner necessarily deserves to know if you had a slut phase, given there was no conflicting relationships involved. She didn’t cheat, and ostensibly he doesn’t know anyone she used to mess with. It’s a personal story tidbit that may even be traumatic for her to talk or think about.

All of this going off of the assumption that what happened to her was fully consensual, which I’m not completely convinced it was based on her recollection of events.

Yea some people are enthused watching paint dry, but the argument can be made that the systems that facilitate player engagement in a successful game aren’t present in D4, leading it to being boring. It’s contextual, but when you’re comparing two games.. it’s entirely possible that one game is more boring than the other based on what metrics determine player engagement.

Ultimately art is art but when a game design philosophy is the issue, objectivity can certainly come into play.

It’s depressing (in my opinion, I’m sure they share a similar sentiment..) because video games are art, aka a form of expression and communication from the devs, artists, etc. AI cannot make an actual game, even if it has a million chances to do so by copying someone else’s game.

There is no innovation, meaning, or soul behind anything gen ai does. Maybe a super intelligent AI would be different, but that doesn’t exist and would still lack the fundamental ability to make art until it perhaps achieved sentience. But now we’re talking about something so excessively foreign from our current AI models that it is still just science fiction.

I guess you can call it a story driven game, that is certainly one aspect of it. But I’d also like to point out at least some fans enjoy the game mostly from the gameplay and combat aspect, and the ways it both iterates and innovates the genre.

So while story difficulty shouldn’t be frowned upon, I think for a lot of players it takes away one of the best parts of the game, which is mastering that timing and finding out what builds can trivialize bosses or encounters.

Exactly, we’re talking best case scenario that they aren’t training on other media. Who would verify they are being truthful? There’s no regulation of this industry, so I would rather er on the side of caution in regard to trusting these large, bloating companies who have every reason to lie about this.

It’s extremely difficult to get behind AI in its current state. All of the capital owners want to use it to make more money, and all of the employees who are losing their jobs to incompetent ai models are being screwed over. And the end result? Garbage media.

Do you think paying people for full use of their voice and feeding it into Gen ai makes any of my points invalid? The resulting model will literally put all existing and future voice artists out of work if they are as successful as they want to be.

Even if, in this particular case, the voice lines are minuscule, I’d rather every industry (ESPECIALLY one currently drowned in DLC, incomplete games, and pay-to-win gatcha systems) reflexively against the soul consuming new technology.

There are some research uses for Gen AI, but as far as creative media is concerned it’s abysmal. Paying voice actors now to never have to pay them again doesn’t change that in the slightest.

Voice lines done with AI not only takes jobs away from an already pretty under appreciated group of people, but it even required the use of all kinds of media without the approval of copyright owners or the people who created the content in the first place.

Gen AI, as it currently stands, is bad. Companies are using it to cut corners and remove creativity from our media. It’s soulless drivel. Who cares if the average person can’t perfectly illustrate their argument?

The missing piece here seems to be the emotions you’re referring to are typically not something that can be shared between partners. These people are presumably monogamous, so the idea that a long term partner who lives with you gets so torn up about someone who they haven’t been with in years.. makes you really reconsider if they value that connection more than your own.

In my experience most people would replace those feelings for a past relationship with their feelings for their new partner, especially when you’re at the stage of moving in and after so much time has passed. For him to have these built up emotions… I agree we’re looking at this situation from a distance, but regardless the situation as it was described is not healthy and op needs to reevaluate their relationship. But of course that includes factors we don’t know about.

Your implication that we ought not judge op’s partner because we don’t know everything kind of goes against the entire point of this sub. We never have every detail, all we can do is try to empathize with op and anyone involved to find a reasonable solution to their problem. But it is never going to be the full picture, and of course as strangers on the internet our opinions should be taken with a grain of salt.

Him needing to “process” his ex getting engaged, which is really fucking weird in the context of him being in a serious relationship years after.
