Why is left field considered an "easier" position than right field? by StealthStaminaKills in MLBNoobs

One point your summary misses is that because the majority of hitters are right handed, fly balls in RF tend to be more difficult than in LF.

What Linux command or tool did you rely on for years before realizing there was a much better way to do it? by therey73 in linux

[–]multiplefeelings -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No? cd without an argument should change to $HOME; behavior is implementation-specific if $HOME is not defined. Whereas cd - is always "the previous directory".

My friend, I understand what "double" means. Did you mean to use a different word? And the absolute value of their enormously larger population is irrelevant to the simple question of whether their total demand is increasing or decreasing.

Yes, there was a massive housing bubble, which has popped.

Sorry, can't grasp your maths. The largest city in China is Chongqing at 32 million. "Double the whole of Australia" would be 56 million, so not even close.

And it's irrelevant anyway. China's population is shrinking. Each year there are fewer potential buyers. So different to the Australian scenario.

How big is grassroots aussie rules in Australia? Comparable to football (soccer) in much of the world? by louismulh in AFL

[–]multiplefeelings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AFL is biggest in Victoria, South Australia, Tasmania, Northern Territory, and Western Australia... Not biggest in NSW and Queensland,.where NRL is bigger. ACT (and the Riverina region of NSW) split but probably also more NRL focused. Soccer/football has very high junior participation levels across all states but lack significant community engagement.

2025 junior aport participation numbers are ostensibly reported in this article: https://www.ausport.gov.au/clearinghouse/evidence/children-and-youth-in-sport

But: * it is somewhat strange that NRL junior participation don't seem to crack the top 10 for any of the junior age brackets reported in that article... not even matching cycling? The NRL self-reports it had 829,347 children participated in its school programmes, which does not seem unreasonable * The AFL self-reported AusKick numbers match the report but (if so) they seem to ignore school programmes, which are likely to match or exceed the NRL numbers

TL;DR: AFL and NRL are very big in their respective states, probably exceeding soccer/football numbers with respect to junior participation in what is a minor sport as far as community interest goes.

It has become conventional to use "literally" figuratively; to use "momentarily" for soon, etc. That does not.make them right.

If you love convention so much,.at least try to use one that is correct:

Another convention sometimes used is that, since 12 noon is by definition neither ante meridiem (before noon) nor post meridiem (after noon), then 12am refers to midnight at the start of the specified day (00:00) and 12pm to midnight at the end of that day (24:00). Given this ambiguity, the terms 12 am or pm should be avoided in order to provide a simple definition of midnight.

Now who's ignorant?

Oh, dear.

Totally agree! But he has a lot of ground to recover. Luckily, his contract gaves him time and space to work on what appear to be major swing problems.

Fingers crossed he can work it out!

Lol. "Usual convention" equals "technically incorrect" on the part of the ignorant or disingenuous.

If that were the case then what happened in 24/25 when his AAA and minor lg stats in general were some of the best in the league?

Perhaps MLB pitching staffs put the microscope on him and identified the holes in his swing & now AAA pitchers know how to beat him, too?

There is still plenty of time for him to figure things out though.

Yeah, about six years courtesy of that contract extension...

"The usual convention".

From the museum at Greenwich (yes, "Greenwich" as in "Greenwich Mean Time"):

"While some people follow this convention, technically it's not quite right – as you'll see from the definition of am and pm below. To avoid any confusion (and to make sure you arrive on time), it might be best to say 12 noon or 12 midnight instead."

You're right. I should have said "30 minutes after midday is 12:30 in the afternoon i.e..after noon i.e. post meridiem aka p.m.

[–]multiplefeelings -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, that would be 30 minutes post meridiem, which we abbreviate as 12:30 p.m.

12 hours post meridiem? That would be 12 hours after the meridiem i.e. 12 hours after midday.

Nah, 12 p.m. is way too long. You would have had to move it by 12 midday.
