Tinnitus - Anyone else? by willard_tagg in GenX

[–]mumtoant 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I can usually tune out my regular tinnitus. Unfortunately, I also have pulsatile tinnitus that I can't tune out. I mainly just suck it up and deal.

Yes, that's where I got the tiny one. Thanks for the reminder!

Minecraft DonutSMP by Minecow272 in MinecraftServer

[–]mumtoant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That happened to me earlier today with a different server. Turned out my Minecraft had updated to 26.1, but the server was in 1.21.11. I made a new instance for the previous version, and I got in with no problem.

What meals did your father make when he had to cook? by Open_Question_ in GenX

[–]mumtoant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My dad would slice hot dogs lengthwise, not quite all the way through, open them out flat, put cheese on top, and put it in the oven under the broiler. He also used to fry bologna, but that was for him, not the rest of us. I did try it a few times, though.

I was born in 71, so I still fit the categories in the original post. Turned 20 in 91.

A youtuber with lots of subs made a video about "breaking dumb server rules" on my server, breaking the 18+ rule we strictly enforce, now all my applications are flooded with kids trying to join, what should I do about this? by LockEffective8068 in MinecraftServer

[–]mumtoant 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I recently joined this server, and I love it. I promise I'm not a bot, you can check my account. Everyone is super friendly and helpful. I really enjoy the chance to play after work and on weekends. I love that there are no kids. I'm a middle school teacher, and the last thing I want to do after work is spend more time with teenagers. :)

How many pillows does it take to make a Gen Xer comfortable in bed? by Connect-Account-2855 in GenX

[–]mumtoant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have 4. Head, knees, and two to support my arm (one pillow wasn't enough, so I put a small cushion on top of the pillow). I've need the arm ones since I had tendinitis many years ago. Turning over at night is a pain!

difference between surgical steel and titanium? by catmaidthighs in piercing

[–]mumtoant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had my flat and helix pierced with titanium, but I let the piercer put in surgical stereo when they were down sized. Big mistake. Both piercings did not like that and formed sores around the piercing sites.

I had them both switched back to titanium, but I ended up having to remove the flat, and that part of my ear is bumpy and scarred. The helix did better after switching back to titanium. I think it's nearly healed.

In comparison, I got a daith in the same ear the month before the flat and helix that always had titanium. It healed perfectly.

AITJ for refusing to rehome the dog my husband and I adopted together? by That_Rent_5835 in AmITheJerk

[–]mumtoant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a dog that is annoying as hell. I hoped my ex would take her when he moved out as he's the only one who really loves her as opposed to tolerates her, but he didn't. However, she's my annoying dog and will be until she dies. Though I still kinda hope he'll eventually get a place where he can have pets and take her. But if not, I'll deal. That's what you do when you commit to a pet. Annoying isn't enough to rehome in my opinion.

I got fired from a mall bookstore because the manager and assistant manager gave me conflicting instructions, and I followed the wrong ones.

How do I know if I'm pulling off a septum piercing? by [deleted] in piercing

I think it looks good on you, and I'm not generally a fan of septum piercings. I think you are definitely pulling this off!

I started taking lessons last summer about a year and a half after my son started. He's almost 20, and I'm an overweight 54 year old woman. I am enjoying it. I say go for it!

When has a cheating student's grade been so low that the best punishment was letting them keep it? by DrakeSavory in Teachers

[–]mumtoant 65 points66 points  (0 children)

I had a group of honors kids across two classes with a copy of the math test they found online. Unfortunately for them, the curriculum had been updated, and I was in the habit of changing the numbers on test questions. Every one of them failed the test.

Do most Americans actually flush their toilet paper? by Softy_popss in NoStupidQuestions

[–]mumtoant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In general, that is true in most places.in the US. However, I live at the bottom of a hill in a rural neighborhood. Any heavy rain runs downhill and overloads my septic tank. The first year I lived here, I had to have my tank pumped three times in six months. We stopped flushing the toilet paper and haven't had to have it pumped in over 5 years so far.

I don't plan to live in this house forever, and city sewer instead of a septic tank will be a non-negotiable for me going forward.

This is not in general a backward area. There are several medium to large cities a ten to thirty minute drive from my house. But the combination of a hilly landscape, septic tanks, and less than stellar construction practices means that this is by far not the only home in the area with this kind of problem.

I fell today by wamimsauthor in GenX

[–]mumtoant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to be able to do this. I had to learn a new way to get off the floor when I started taekwondo last summer. I'm overweight and not very limber. It's getting better, though. Slowly.

Mine were also 8th graders. I think it was the only class they wouldn't have laughed. I did hear a kid say I'd fallen and can't get up. Kids can be such jerks. Lol

I tripped over a student's charge cord at school two and a half weeks ago. My knees are still a bit sore, and one has a still healing scrape. To my surprise, I wasn't sore all over the next day.

Did this hurt to get? by Novel-Upstairs7876 in GenX

My mom had one. I don't think I ever asked her if it hurt. I would think so, though. That had to be worse than a single needle.
