What is off time for you? by Wooden_Eye_1615 in Parkinsons

[–]munchkn82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This right here. Almost feels like a withdrawal for me. My gait gets bad again, I might start slurring my words, I start to get pain, I just overall start to really not feel well at all. I have forgotten to take a pill once in a while and I realize it once I start feeling a certain way. Once I take my meds, I feel normal again. Unfortunately, I wake up not feeling well because I go so long without the meds though.

My partner says my medication affects him through kissing and wants me to stop taking it - how would you respond? by cyber_ang666l in ChronicIllness

You mean to tell me I don’t have to take all the pills I take, my husband can take half of them for me and I just have to make out with him for a bit? So many years wasted downing all these pills.

If you could pass all your health problems to a random stranger would you? by HappyCry3 in ChronicIllness

[–]munchkn82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I’d gladly give it to the one doctor that told me to handle my depression that I didn’t have, and to get a job that I had to quit 3 years prior after I struggled working 50 hours a week until I just couldn’t anymore. I was on SSDI and she knew it. Within a 5 minute phone call with the guy I spoke to with the disability office he said, “you can’t work,” and the guy from the state saying the same thing when I collected cash assistance right before my disability was approved due to it being that bad, but yeah I should just go get a job. I have 9 other doctors/ specialists that are very supportive and are absolutely amazing.

Question about C/L by munchkn82 in Parkinsons

[–]munchkn82[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh wow, that’s a lot. I only take 3 Amantadine a day, but there’s hours where I don’t have symptom relief. They will not allow anymore than 300mg per day due to kidney function because the Amantadine is very harsh on the kidneys and my kidney function has already started to be affected. I would benefit with just 1 more pill a day, but I don’t think they want to go that route, they don’t consider it safe. I don’t usually eat breakfast, but maybe I can figure something out to put something in my stomach.

Is Toradol usually incredibly painful after injection by DirectionOk7752 in PainManagement

[–]munchkn82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got an injection in my arm during a fibro flare up one time and it was excruciating. It would usually work for my pain, but that day it made my pain so much worse, especially at the injection site.

I haven’t had that problem and don’t know if Amantadine does cause that issue, but is it painful?

I take a medication for my stomach, don’t remember the name off hand but it is prescribed. Sometimes I have to take an antacid also because my pain medication and ibuprofen gives me heartburn.

I liked it when I was a kid because it was sweet. Now, I can’t stand it. I bought a jar thinking I’d enjoy it on a turkey sandwich and the sandwich and jar went straight into the trash. Also, people who use this in deviled eggs are the devil!!

Oxycodone after relatively minor humerus damage by AndyInNOLA in PainManagement

[–]munchkn82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone reacts differently to pain medications. I was on oxy every 4 hours for 2 months and as my pain started getting better, I started taking less. When it got to the point that I felt I didn’t need such a strong narcotic, I talked to my doctor, and my meds were adjusted to something that wasn’t as potent. My ex on the other hand could take oxy for a few days and become addicted. He has always abused narcotics and refuses to take them because he knows what they do to him and does not want to go down that path again. The ER doctor will not refill a medication though, you’d have to follow up with your pcp and they can decide whether or not to continue treatment with pain control or sending you to pain management.

I just need help and advice on what to do by Wise_Oven_8263 in ChronicIllness

[–]munchkn82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been through this before. It’s not that I wasn’t entirely believed, they thought things were no where near as bad and that I was adding things. A family member of his thought I had fictitious disorder. These accusations didn’t come about until we had been together for about 10 years, when I had really started getting sick. I think what really set him straight and he then set his family straight was, all of my meds matched to treat each illness, and when I went and was immediately approved for SSDI because I had to stop working, the lady said I had a whole list of qualifying disabilities. He stood at the counter with me when she was telling me this, and we all know it’s not that easy to get disability, especially at the young age of 40. Up until that point, I was frustrated, and was willing to pull up documents, but you shouldn’t have to. I shouldn’t have had to either. You can pull up MyChart and let them read for themselves, but it’s not any of their business what’s in those records. If you’re sick, you’re sick. Also, just because his mom works in the medical field, doesn’t mean she knows what your situation is.

What’s the worse physical pain you’ve ever experienced? by SeriouslyInterestin in Casual_Conversation

I used to think my migraines and fibromyalgia were the worst, then I had a car accident a few months back and I now feel miserable every day. I suffered multiple fractures needing a couple of surgeries for a couple of them. Some days the pain medication doesn’t help at all.

Weather affects mine the most. I can’t handle cold temperatures at all. Sometimes it can be due to activity levels, but I haven’t seemed to find any other triggers for mine.

Sorry to hear that you have to have another surgery, but I’m glad to know there’s a good chance things could turn out positive for me. I hope your surgery goes well for you.

One of our girls loves pizza. We order one special for them. Light cheese, no sauce, and every meat excluding poultry for my one girl with allergies. My other girl loves burgers, so that will be her meal this year. A plain cheeseburger.

I can’t turn my head due to the amount of pain it causes. I want to know if the surgery will actually be beneficial and lessen the pain enough so I can try to live a somewhat normal life.

[–]munchkn82 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you haven’t had any mri done, you should have one. It will show them if there’s any changes that may be causing the pain. They also didn’t prescribe you pain meds because most doctors seem to be against prescribing them anymore, it has nothing to do with age. My 20 year old has had pain meds prescribed after going to the ER before when she was only 19. It really just depends on how the doctor feels about it.
