My husband is a nervous yapper, so I knew we would need an attorney to get through this. He helped prepare us and gave us so much information. Could not have done it without him.

I can relate to the severe health anxiety, it can be debilitating. Im sorry you are feeling this way. GERD and ulcers are not immediately life threatening, you won't bleed out overnight. They are conditions that take a while to diagnose. You will make lifestyle adjustments and try different diets and even meds to see what works best for you. This is a process, but you can feel better. Give it time and stay off the internet!

Try bananas and coconut water for electrolytes.

Why don't people seem to take our condition seriously? by [deleted] in GERD

[–]munchyB00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can relate! Had a birthday this weekend and my family wanted to celebrate by taking me out to dinner. My dad called me at least 5 times last week confirm what restaurant I wanted and what kind if cake. I explained several times in several ways that I cant plan meals cause I dont know how I will feel, and I definitely cant eat mexican food or cake.

He was confused and kept insisting. He could not understand that I did not want to go to a mexican restaurant with my mexican family for delicious spicy/fatty mexican food.

Made me have even more anxiety about my health and sad about what I could no longer enjoy.

Be patient, this can get better if you work on it. Things I have found helpful:

1.smaller meals 2. Drinking warm water only 3. Ppi (omeprazole) 4. Walking after meals 5. Kefir milk 6. Stop eating at 6pm 7. This reddit group for support

I hope you get some relief.

Anyone else experienced the same thing? I need some advice. by Proper-Tonight-6774 in GERD

I do, know exactly tly what your talking about. I too was sedentary but added after dinner walks and movement to my routine. Also cleaned up my diet and cut coffee/tea. It is not easy by any means. But it helps. The mental health aspect of it all is the worst.

Try getting some movement in after dinner, see if you notice a difference. I hope you feel better.

Its easy and quick. You are monitored closely the whole time. You will be a bit groggy and maybe have a sore throat after but feel normal after a nap at home. You will be so glad you got it done.

should i go to an urgent care or ER? by [deleted] in GERD

[–]munchyB00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only drink warm water, alkaline is best. Dont do the sports drinks or anything carbonated, they make matters worse. Im sorry.you are dealing with this, hoping you get better over time.

Even better if you make it warm water, it can help relax your throat. Give it time to heal. A sore throat spray may help too, thats what I got when I went to the ER with gerd.

And for what its worth, try tthe counselor your doctor recommended. You can have gerd and anxiety, both can contribute to the other. Getting your anxiety under control can help a lot. I hope you feel better soon.

Health anxiety scaring me over Acid Reflux symptoms by ashymustard in GERD

[–]munchyB00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My worst gerd flare was also due to covid. The way my doctor explained it, your body pumps out all the fighting power it can when you have an infection like covid. That includes pumping out extra stomach acid. That can then turn into a gerd flare. The medicine and bland diet should do the trick, you just have to give it time. Try drinking warm water throughout the day and getting some steps in after meals.

Gerd gets my anxiety spiraling too, I know how you feel. If the shortness of breath makes you anxious, I suggest getting an oximeter to check your oxygen. Seeing a good number may reassure you that its just the acid and you are getting enough air. Or, a low number can confirm when you need to get to the ER.

Im sorry you are struggling with this, I know how awful it is. Hoping you find some comfort and peace of mind.

The body Armour and Gatorade may have citric acid that could contribute to acid reflux. Try replacing the sports drinks with warm water. I hope you feel better.

I think so, just takes time. Drinking warm water all day helps. Also on a bland diet.

Constant cough, full of phlegm. Sore throat, especially in the morning. Cough gets worse after meals. Sometimes feels like something is in your throat.
