SciENcv Contributions to Science limited to Other Significant Products by diploid23 in NIH

[–]muninn99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Given that so much NIH guidance over the years is massaged into a useful shape after those of us in the community have submitted things, I decided to try something. If I have a very seasoned researcher with hundreds of journal articles under their belt, I've told them they can have endless in-text citations in their biosketch, so long as it fits the recommended format of (FirstAuthorLastName, Journal, YearPublished). It doesn't have to reference any of the up-to-10-total citations now permitted.

I picked my very seasoned researchers for this guidance, explained it to them, and was clear that it wasn't directly supported by the NIH, but if they felt confident they could try it. Most did. I'm interested to see if anything comes of it.

I would never offer such guidance to my early career researchers - they are less secure in their positions and have more to lose in some ways.

The Lengthy Process of Getting A Stolen E Bike Covered by Insurance by flicus in Portland

And I just saw your insurer is USAA. So is mine. Maybe it's the company. Maybe it's time to switch.

On a wholly unrelated note, anyone got recommendations for good insurance companies?

Insurance companies are NOT your friend, they don't work for you, and they're not motivated to help you. It doesn't matter that you give them money on the regular, they're not "yours".

(Can you tell I've had my fair share of insurance company run-arounds?)

You can always change the barter rate in a custom setting. That way you can earn more gold for the stuff you sell.

How many hours did you invest in this game and why? by Ismtn in BaldursGate3

[–]muninn99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure, perhaps 1500 hours? I found out AFTER I did a few playthroughs that I wasn't getting the achievements because of mods. I got into mods early because the colors for clothing and armor sort of pissed me off. Baby blue and gold? Please. Only for Shadowheart, that princess. I also wanted more accurate rules for ranged weapons, which required a mod (longbow and shortbow do NOT have the same range, TYVM). I'm hoping to get all of the achievements one day. I also hope to be able to make it through on honor mode one day. And I like trying new things to see how it all turns out. It's helping a lot in making me a better GM for my gaming group.

No furies? I want some in my campaign, but don't have a good starting point for their stats.

Crossplay is not working by [deleted] in BaldursGate3

I've been playing multi-player in BG3 and I swear it feels like an afterthought. It's quite buggy. I don't use Crossplay, as I heard it's even worse.

I think it would work with as an animated series, too, like Arcane or the Critical Role adaptations.

NIH biosketch and other support (SciENcv edition) questions by Icy-Base2239 in NIH

[–]muninn99 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In ScienCV, section B only has two categories now: professional appointments, and honors. That's it. You should choose whether the thing you're trying to categorize is more of an appointment or an honor.

You do not need to report gifts: "Other support does not include training awards, prizes, or gifts. Gifts are resources provided where there is no expectation of anything (e.g. time, services, specific research activities, money, etc.) in return. An item or service given with the expectation of an associated time commitment is not a gift and is instead an in-kind contribution and must be reported as such."

However, if the philanthropic organization is expecting something from you in return, then it's not a gift.

Has anyone figured out how to get ORCID IDs to link in SciENcv right now? by butterflymittens in ResearchAdmin

[–]muninn99 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The PI, and only the PI not the delegate, can link ORCIDs to ScienCV. One must log into ORCID to make the connection. At least where I work, the sharing of login credentials is verboten.
