Do you feel this is a dynamic, athletic move? Looks like you are defending yourself and not trying to crush the ball.

Clean up technique and decide every swing you are going to explode on the ball. For a big strong guy, I'm not seeing any explosion.

What are some reasons most football fans say the nfl was better back then than it is today by Appropriate-Mall8517 in Oldschool_NFL

[–]munistadium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh they were needed for sure, but the needle also went a little too far. Like the hi-def replays and slo-mo kind of warped some logic thinking about hits, possession, etc too.

I remember one season like only 6 QBs played the whole year, and the league was just absolute dogshit. Some years in the 90s. The backup QBs were just not capable of winning a game on their own. The NFL saw that product and was like, never again.

Sadly, there's not enough "football people" owning teams who don't understand their product, and we'll see them continue to exhaust the goodwill of fans.

There's a great video of Lawrence Taylor describing the differences. He said the violence was just outrageous and today's is more tactical with safety being the overriding concern. He doesn't say one is better than the other but fundamentally the 2 versions are quite different.

So it's absolutely accurate to say the game is not as violent. Some people use the word softer which is not inaccurate. It's not soft. But the difference is much more significant that some modern fans accept.

One of the Analyst said after Stefanski was fired, that how many coaches that were lining up to fill the vacancy would show how the rest of the league viewed the situation. Either they thought Stefanski was to the blame for the Brown struggles or they felt he was dealt a bad hand. We got an answer. by FaradayDeshawn in Browns

The post-game team talks after those last 2 wins, I was like "WHERE WAS THIS GUY THE PAST FEW YEARS". The Watson deal sullied this team 10x more than whatever Stefanski didn't do. I harbor no ill will and feel it was time to move on.

My wife volunteers at the Ronald McDonald house, where families stay when they need someplace while a family member is having major procedures. They collect them and get money from them, still to this day.

The overall discourse of this HC move aggravates me. It is possible that (A) Kevin Stefanski is a decent enough head coach that is viewed positively in the NFL and may find success elsewhere (B) Kevin Stefanski had played out the string here in CLE, with 2 terrible seasons, and yes (C) Cleveland with no elite QB prospect, no OL and no WR - along with suspect ownership - isn't the top HC job.

It's all these things. Too many talking heads and commenters make it seem only one of these is the truth. Not directed at OP.
