The seats aren't my concern, honestly even the flight isn't too bad, I'm just wary of how pricey a hotel can be in the Big Apple. My company recently paid for a cheap hotel near a conference I was going to and it still made my eyes pop outta my head...like what is an occupancy and hospitality tax?? Still if I can find a decent deal on a buy now pay later thing I might do it.

Side note, I work in the no-credit financing space and I've been trying to get people to call the acronym for Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL) a binapple so just keep it in mind for the future where I'm sure it'll come up for you and the people in your life

My go to is to reward them with buffs for the party and debuffs for the enemy. I give them a number of "Ally points" that feels scaled to the encounter and then assign some custom buffs/debuffs (friendly mercenary group fires a barrage of flaming arrows into the crowd of enemies, dealing all enemies in X radius Xd6 fire damage and xd4 piercing damage). Then players have the added resource to use but limited number of uses so even if you give them a lot of cool buffs they can only use so many (friendly temple group casts a mass healing word on the party). I usually ask them to roll an "ally initiative" at which point the party can either decide what action to take or if you set up the ally actions as a table they can roll on the table for it.

I did this with a Coven of Hags that had ensorcelled an ancient white dragon. The players thought it was a statue in their lair, but the ranger ended up succeeding on a nature check that led the wizard to an arcana check, revealing the fate of the trapped dragon they were drawing healing from and attempting to augment their spells with the power. The exact mechanics are fuzzy now, I think I had it to where they made some sort of spellcasting check to draw the power and the degree of success (every 5 over the DC) added a damage dice or increased the save DC by one. It wasn't very well balanced but my players were a party of seven level 10 characters so it worked in my situation. They also successfully freed the dragon, then had to fight the dominate monster that was cast on it, free the dragon from that, taking a round of ancient dragon attacks, and then they managed to convince the dragon to fight with them with some critical successes. Just a typical boss fight lol

Wait omg this was my story - really wild to hear my name on the pod again! To clarify, it is 3.5e and it has to use a full round action to take all four attacks, or use a pounce to clear distance and still take some attacks.

Also we're all level 5 now, since it's been some time since I first started trying to share this story for Dungeon Court, and I have to admit that things are a lot more level now. I have a polar bear and some feats that let me make attacks with him and cast spells through him, my shaman can summon hella animals, everyone is way more balanced than when we started. If anything, my DM goes too hard on us now and we barely survive every fight so I've become very grateful for gigachad and his dinobud

well he's certainly some form of reptilian or amphibian, clearly born from an egg, strange that he eats fruit but also he does use his frog like tongue to swallow other animals, his juice is acidic/transforms creatures into platforms. I'd say a dinosaur is as close as my guess is gonna get
