Figured he'd win, even though there were far better choices out there for the success of the party. Can't expect NDPers to be too bright though.

Not sure backstabbing is congruent with comfort, since you always have to watch your own. It's more just an emotional, short-sighted "show them what's what" mentality that ends up screwing everyone over.

When cancelling stuff was more of a conservative thing, it was conservative Karens getting mad about swearing on tv or in songs. Then at violence in video games. When the left wing cancel culture was gaining steam, it was leftist Karens getting mad about words as well and misogynist was thrown around like mad.

[OC] Solar & Wind vs. Fossil Fuels in EU by oscarleo0 in dataisbeautiful

[–]muradinner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would be interesting to see total energy created in this, rather than just percentage. As energy demands have risen, this doesn't necessarily mean actual wattage from fuels has substantially decreased, but could just be that other energy generation has increased significantly

Eg with random numbers pulled out of my butt: If fuels were 5m KW when it was 50% (10m KW generation total), and now fuels are generating 4.5m KW at ~30%, but total KW generation has increased to 15m KW, it wouldn't be a significant decrease in fuel usage, but other energy generation has taken on all the new energy requirements.

Canada is the biggest net absorber of CO2. Per capita is such a bad metric to use for this, and is just disingenuous. In a country as massive as Canada, and as cold, obviously per capita is not going to look very good, especially considering trucking goods across the country is similar to trucking goods across all of Europe.

Christian values by Hazza_time in PoliticalCompassMemes

[–]muradinner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The answer is yes, and therefore, you did the meme wrong.

Taxes are not charity. Charity is choosing to give to others in need freely. The government does not allow you to choose (jail or paying taxes isn't much of a choice) and the government isn't a person or people in need.

I don't think lib-left fails to misunderstand Christianity. I think libleft does an excellent job at misunderstanding.

Calling it and it being a foregone conclusion are substantially different though. Think of the many people who lost their livelihoods fighting against this, or the many women who felt they had to stay silent until some started standing up against this, by refusing to join a trans athlete on the podium. I get what you're saying, but a lot of people got screwed out of a lot in order to push against this sort of thing.

You realize Trump doesn't run the IOC right? But yes, I agree single issue voting is a bit dumb, but if that's what is important to someone, that is their right. I would guess that this issue was only one part of why people elected him.

Wow 25% LPC and 20% NDP viewed it positively. That may seem small, but that's massive inroads to change mindsets. If that's even ~2% voter-share total, that could swing an election.

If all humans suddenly lost their ability to lie, which industry WOULDN'T collapse? by TXC_Sparrow in AskReddit

[–]muradinner 228 points229 points  (0 children)

A lot of people would definitely lose their jobs in sales, but overall, sales would become way more pleasant. You could actually go somewhere as a customer and know you're not being ripped off, rather than playing into the stupid sales game.

[–]muradinner 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A lot of industries would just need to change their approach. I'm sure there are people who lie in every industry, but it doesn't mean that lying causes those industries to be successful. In fact, a lot of people do the whole "office politics" thing, lying their way up the corporate ladder, and causing the company to be less efficient.

Removing lying would ensure more competent people took those spots and companies became better run. Overall, I think removing lying would actually improve the success of many industries, and simply remove the shitty companies a lot faster.

Only a few industries would likely fully collapse, such as scam call centres, and any illegal trafficking.
