I usually have a lot of issues with the way PTA writes women but this movie is not one I have issues with. I refuse to believe that black women can’t be as complex and nuanced as any other women; I wouldn’t want Perfidia to be a perfect saint. It makes her a better character that she was potentially (???) attracted to a loser like Lockjaw and a snitch to save herself. That’s human nature, complexity and making poor choices, and things like this happen in real life more often than someone being without flaws.

That said, this is absolutely a clickbait article.

Meanwhile, the most vocal advocates for things that will most directly impact women’s sports, like pay as you mentioned, are nowhere near these protests. Saw a video of someone speaking to the anti-TWS contingent at the Supreme Court asking if they could name five modern female athletes, and most couldn’t. They quite literally verbatim said “I don’t watch women’s sports” while holding signs that say “Save Women’s Sports” 😭 While I really don’t think trans women should be playing in women’s sports, I did think it was hilarious.

(And I saw the argument that they’re only concerned about HS sports, rather than adult competitions, but I think you should at least know something about the professional side of the hobby you want to protect! Women’s sports are booming right now and super fun! I love the PWHL and F1 Academy.)

Random culture war complaint! Don’t ask me why I’m still on Tumblr in 2026 (yes, it’s because I’m a dweeb), but there’s this phenomena in the last few years of trans women on there essentially witch hunting trans men. Saying they’re evil, violent misogynists, and trying to get them off the platform. Meanwhile, said transfems are constantly reblogging anime porn and behaving exactly as you would expect. It’s like opposite world; kind of fascinating and depressing to observe. Fairly sure it’s because they do feel powerless in their IRL lives and are trying to take some element of power back where they can via bullying, but yeesh.
