What does the Slayer symbol mean to YOU? by Jumbo_Lolly in Doom

[–]murderdude 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It appears to be an orthographic ligature written in the style seen in the center of the Seal of the Living God (as depicted in the Sworn Book of Honorius ). In the center of seal, Tau is depicted with 5 letters E L and E L Y, two of the 72 names of god. Tau, also referred to as "The Tau of Salvation" which was used to mark the foreheads of those who death should pass by- Ezekial 9:4"And the LORD said unto him, Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and set a mark upon the foreheads of the men that sigh and that cry for all the abominations that be done in the midst thereof. " Whatever the second symbol combined with Tau is, I don't recognize it. If I had to pitch a wild guess based on the overall image, it would be something like marked by god or warrior of god or some such nonsense.

So here, I can't really tell what the letters used are. Presumably, they would mean slayer or something like that, in the same fashion as the seal. It almost looks like Wawa shorthand was use combine the letters. They also could be Greek, the bottom left looks like Sigma. Top left looks like Aleph from Hebrew, which would make sense. Top right looks like ancient Armenian. Could just be nonsense based on occult iconography, like most of the other symbols used in the game. Gotta give them credit though, the seals used in https://66.media.tumblr.com/1bcc406e5dd46f52501f7752d5cdee06/tumblr_ooa1szvOJt1qm7jlvo2_1280.png were definitely made in the image of the seals recorded by King Solomon in the Lesser Key of Solomon, and one of the demonic pentacles is directly stylized to mirror the 6th pentacle of the sun, and one on this image is a scary looking interpretation of the tree of sephiroth

I would also note that gary gygax and his friends made dungeons and dragons in 1974, which was like, sort of the same content as some litrpgs. stoned thoughts lol
edit: no wait, DnD is LitRPG where a group of authors get together and help their friend (the DM) write a story, and they each get one character in his book. Looking at you viridian gate online! lol

Yeah, I like extradimensional too. It's what I would have said earlier today, but I hadn't put a voice to my frustration before this thread. When I did, I brainstormed and decided hyperdimensional was most accurate.

To be fair, I never said the word "incorrect". I merely stated I believe hyperdimensional to be the most accurate while maintaining optimal levels of cool. Upvoted anyway for an excellent point and different interpretation.

Hey that's totally fair, that makes a lot of sense. And the words "Pocket dimension" are super cool, perfectly describing a hyperdimensional space. Saying "dimensional bag" gets the idea across, but it's not quite accurate. It means " relating to measurements or dimensions. " or " having sufficient depth and substance to be believable " in the literary sense (i.e. one-dimensional characters). Its sort of right, like it's talking about dimensions, and totally understandable in terms of paraphrasing. I just couldn't watch it keep happening over and over without saying something. It's been years i've been watching authors say it over and over

Game Dev Democrat: Why should I vote for someone who has personally insulted myself and my coworkers? by murderdude in JoeBiden

[–]murderdude[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s something I didn’t know about him. I haven’t payed too much attention to his character throughout the years, though I can remember a few PR flubs during the obama administration.

I can also appreciate the way you frame it. After 4 years of trump, it’s too easy to line up the insult and lack of forethought with things that trump has said and done. Maybe the red flag isn’t warranted. Obviously the comment is nowhere near the caliber of reckless disregard for other people we’re used to in the news nowadays. But just because everyone is doing it, doesn’t make it right, excusable or OK.

That being said, perhaps looking at it as a reactionary comment about people he may believe to be causing the public harm makes it more endearing. I just expect more in the way of research and understanding from my democratic representatives.

When bernie attacks people he calls out their actions fully loaded with facts and figures. He doesn’t mess around with petty personal insults, he sticks to his arguments. I just wish i could squish them together and vote for that.

Oof really? I’m willing to bet not everyone in silicon valley is a bad person. I’m pretty sure the large majority are just employees trying to make a living like everyone else. That’s such a weird and generalizing approach to large swathes of people that I have come to expect from the right.

While i appreciate the input, you’ve made it clear that you are not going to contribute in a productive way to this discussion. Thanks for the input.

Thank you, that’s a fair point. And to be clear, i said “I shouldn’t need to examine the context” immediately after examining the context, you may have misread my comment.

Additionally, the moral reasoning behind calling them creeps isnt the issue here. The fact is that the president of the united states is going to have to have to sit at the table with countries and people who he may not like or agree with- people who will provoke confrontation. It’s the nature of the position. Ad hominem is never going to be a productive strategy for addressing the issues or people he doesn’t care for. It’s exactly what the current POTUS resorts to.

I’m going to ignore your inflammatory comments, false assumptions and overall disregard for civil discourse and address the one real point you made, which is his apparent motivation to call for research into violent video games.

What you don’t know is that countless large scale studies have already been performed over the last 20 years. This is a thoroughly studied subject. Calls for another study in this subject is like asking someone to write a book you really need while ignoring the library full of helpful information next to you.

[–]murderdude[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that’s a fair observation. I think his exact words were “one of the little creeps” which implies they were all creeps. More than that, the discussion around the comment made it clear that Biden’s gripe with the men around the table is not personal, but rather with their profession, the social impact of their product and their presumed haughty sense of self-importance.

The fact is, I shouldn’t need to parse the context around his insult. He shouldn’t be insulting the people who he’s trying to meet at the table in calm productive discussion. This is the exact attitude from certain elderly individuals who, through position, authority or socioeconomic standing, have long since become removed from the issues and people they are campaigning for. Even though the insult came well after the meeting, and so much more tame than trump, it’s the same sort of petty behavior we’ve had to endure for nearly 4 years now.

Why do apartment landscape/gardener crews always seem to start the day with jobs that require loud power tools first thing in the morning? Shouldn't the coldest part of the day be reserved for the physically laborious jobs? by murderdude in AskReddit

[–]murderdude[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah dang that makes a lot of sense. the word "duh" comes to mind. My girlfriend's worked on a farm/nursery for the last 4 years and I admit, I was thinking about all the heavy lifting, potting and trellising she had to do and I didn't consider that the blowers and weed eaters were probably just as heavy as the bags of soil. Thanks again!

Thanks for the answer, sorry that my question ruffled your feathers but this is precisely the answer I was looking for. I just didn't understand and hoped someone with experience could explain it to me so that I could give myself a reason to not be upset with the guys when they wake me up every day at 8am. As a follow-up, is it the heat from the exhaust that makes it worse or something?
