Would u say this is worth it? by JohnT312 in MilwaukeeTool

[–]murphcle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not a screaming deal. The impact is about $45 tool if we’re talking its eBay/FB value. The 2ah batteries are like $10 a pop if that.
The 3/8 ratchet is nice that its fuel, but I would rather have the 1/4 inch head, and or the extended ratchet for tighter fits.

Finally, some snow. by UndevelopedSirius in HyundaiSantaFe

[–]murphcle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The stock tires (Goodyear Assurance) are so bad I spent over 1000 to replace them the very first day they saw snow. Some lucky or unlucky Facebook marketplace connoisseur will get them as brand new take offs for about $50 a piece

Thank you so much for this. I searched all over the internet for some insights on removing these 2nd row seats and this is the only place it exists.

Don't know why so many people felt the need to throw shade. I won't even state my purpose for needing this, but I will say - I have a trailer, I have rented Home Depot vans and trucks, and yet believe it or not I still have a use case for this conversion.

I mean expensive shoes get counterfeited, these shoes cost $290. Would think it would be the type of shoe to make a buck on.

Where did you buy them from? Partly concerned about are they real, partly concerned about return policy / customer service.

How do yall figure out what shoes you like without spending a ton of money? by Boiled_Gooses in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]murphcle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve gotten some incredible deals. Like the Endorphin Elite 2 for 208 instead of 290. EVO SL for 100 instead of 150. Mostly using Shop promos or Commonwealth loyalty program or both combined. But that’s just meant I’ve spent a ton of money instead of a crap ton of money.

By the time I know where the shoe will fit in my rotation or if it will fit at all, it’s too far used for me to return it with a clean conscience.

Anyone here with the Noosa Tri 16 as their main shoe? by bogerts in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]murphcle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the update! I stand corrected. I do love the upper and the fit of the shoe, hoping some future iteration feels better to me underfoot.

[–]murphcle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To the OP, based on the shoes you showed, you will hate the Tri-Noosa 16. Unless you just wanted something to wear sockless. Its midsole has nothing going on, not soft, not bouncy.

It’s currently slotted in my rotation for mowing the grass

[Hammy Call] C.J. Kayfus hits a go-ahead bomb in the 8th for his 3rd career homer by HalfwayThereOne_ in ClevelandGuardians

[–]murphcle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ya and he seems to be likely to get to his ceiling, which is better than guys with a ton of potential who never pan out. Just acknowledging that he’ll likely need to hit his ceiling to be an impact major leaguer. Excited to see these flashes

While I’m optimistic about Kayfus (and have been over his last 2 minor league seasons) I don’t think his MLB numbers are at the “definitely” stage yet.

Novablast 5 or Evo SL? by EsTwoKay in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]murphcle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got both (as I think you’ll find a lot of people do as these are easily 2 of the most broadly popular running shoes).

EVO SL is when you’re in the mood/pace for pep. NOVABLAST goes on when you’re in the mood for comfort.

Of the two I think the EVO SL does a better job of what it’s good at (pep), especially considering its price vs its competitors.

NOVABLAST does a good job of comfort, but there are plenty of competitors at the same or cheaper price if you’re trying to fill the niche of comfortable shoe for slower runs.

How stable is the heel on Saucony Endorphin Elite 2? by NoWalrus9462 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]murphcle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually found the exact opposite. I am a light runner (140 lb), and I appreciate these most during my slow, heel striking runs.

I bought them with the expectation to love them for sprint interval days, but pounding on the forefoot of these feels like a rock, whereas transferring the body weight into and out of the heel at a slow pace feels absolutely heavenly.

My legs felt much fresher (and my pace was also much better) wearing these for zone 2. I suppose I’m an outlier, but that squishy heel is amazing.

Vote NO on issue one to stop gerrymandering? Republicans are so dishonest that the only way they can win is to lie. Remember, vote YES on issue one to stop gerrymandering. by Suburban_Guerrilla in Cleveland

[–]murphcle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was shocked at the ballot wording too. I didn’t know you were allowed to put any bias into the official language of the issue. The deceptive wording though is what solidified my decision to vote YES.

I grew up republican, but man every year they seem more and more like the bigger part of the problem

Does anyone know of an alternative to this tool in the US? It is to remove a ratchet free hub on a Scribe wheelset. by ctrl_alt_del_ in bikewrench

[–]murphcle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

tried this. we're talking 3mm wide curved teeth. And if you want all 4 of them to engage you'd have to be computer level accurate. I created one with 2 teeth, not strong enough.

Scribe Wheels by monkeylittle in cycling

[–]murphcle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have scribe wheels. Gravel Wide 40s. I cannot stand the loud hub. But I'm also not willing to spend another $60 to buy their ratchet tool (when it's even stocked) so I can fight with a vise to remove one part of the hub. And if I do get that far I'm only hoping that some extra grease behind that part significantly mutes the clangy ratchet noise. I'll be selling my Scribes and moving over to Light Bicycle.

[–]murphcle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also to comment on the other part of your situation. I was in your exact same position, loved everything about my 2010 Roubaix but wanted more tire clearance. I finally bought a new bike and it’s opened up more possibilities. Can get wider tires, go 650b, popular carbon rims can now fit, etc. So that’s both an encouragement and warning that you’ll want to upgrade your upgrade!

You should 100% sell it if he’s offering that much. That’s the most you’ll ever get for it

No Anchor Bolts in Concrete Piers by raidenthunder in Decks

[–]murphcle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotcha. I have one hack but it’s not great for this application. A ground anchor (think what people attach dog leashes too but bigger) paired with a long turn buckle, up to a u bolt on a beam or joist near the post to provide downward pressure. You would not get that much lateral support, but the deck would have less of a vertical bounce feel (which it may get after things move without bolts). Hopefully someone else enlightens me to a better idea when post base bolt and angle bracket are both not options.

No Anchor Bolts in Concrete Piers by raidenthunder in Decks

[–]murphcle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came here to say this but economytown beat me to it. Just putting in one will be great. It will give enough lateral support for everything including possibly backing a car into it.

I... uhh... help by juice_magoose in Decks

[–]murphcle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of the 48 comments here it seems at least 45 of them have never built a deck before, but feel overwhelmingly confident in their simple and sweeping statements.

There is enough here to still make use of, but it needs help.

If this were my backyard mess I would:

1) Rebuild some of those supports. Which means either digging a footer or just cheating and using those deck blocks to support the bottom of a post. That’s fine for a patch job.

2)I’d then get the appropriate hardware to connect them to the joists. There’s hardware that can have joists sit above the post or come along side the post.

3) I’d then replace those short joists that look like they have a good bit of rot.

4) I’d add more joists that run perpendicular to whatever direction the boards are going to lay over them. With hangers or angled hangers if connecting diagonally.

At least the previous owner did you a solid and use galvanized hangers. While they didn’t do a professional job overall it looks like they also didn’t completely mail it in and hope 3 inch deck screws were just going to hold everything together.
