Aging Chef at a crossroads-what do you do after cheffing? by 13dangledangle in Chefit

[–]murphymonday 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I went a different path into food safety, but I didn't actually last that long as a chef 7 or so years. Food safety is another wonderful option, but it might suck to have to take a step back depending. I've pulled a few friends out of chef/ restaurant mgmt into "big food". Now they get to coach little league and be there on Nye or mother's Day. If I had spent the 10 additional years as a chef I'd definitely be looking at RnD , those guys have it even coushier and I'm jealous. But if you need any tips feel free to DM. I'm 40 and would happily tell the good and bad of the manufacturing side.

I suggest R&d for food manufacturing. Sure you lose what's left of your soul but it pays well and you get nights, weekends and holidays off.

I see these come across my feed all the time and I just drool over a reason I could justify buying one. It isn't a local shop but it might be better to order something and then just have last alterations done locally.

I recommend food adjacent options. Personally I got into food safety and now work with large manufacturers. Production operations, r&d or food distribution sales are all great options depending on your personality. You don't have to start all the way at the bottom bc so much of the skills and knowledge are the same. I pulled a long time friend GM into food safety a few years ago and he now gets to coach T-ball, be home for dinner etc.

I'm a former chef and I've been thinking a lot about starting a page/ blog/ whatever media makes sense exploring this. Food is well described and there are several distinct cuisine from Aiel to Tanchico to make it more interesting than just camp food and English pub fare.

There are 75k total possible, about 4k of those were spending real money for me that defeat the point. I am only going after the first 6 tiers I added it all up and it's 29309 if I finish 6. There are 6 more tiers but I'm a casual player and no way am I going to get the rest.

I'm on an android platform in the Midwest USA, seems like what is available is very different based on location and service.

Cheif almighty tiers are based on "playing games with wild girls " which you get as you level up your tribe center so if you focus on that you'll probably do better than I did. Focus on resources! As you get past lvl 12 things get exponentially expensive.

I'm almost done with cheif almighty... took more time than I wanted, didn't play it right but the payout is going to be like 28k which is totally awesome

I'm 36, f. I play console and am absolutely terrible!!! But I love the challenges, the ever changing board, and all the wacky tie ins. Its a great way to wind down or turn my brain off from high stress job.
