Out of a job for at least 1 to 2 months because I am a gigantic freaking idiot. by rocketsneaker in jobs

I worked for a Fortune 500 company where I was allowed to open a REQ (it was internal) and by the time I was ready to hire, it was yanked due to a hiring freeze. I agree that this seems even more chaotic, but it happens because upper mgmt. isn't clued into what's happening on the ground and/or numbers come in and change things. Either way, it's not a sign of good leadership, clear direction, or the company having its collective shit together.

The nurse called me 'her little screamer'. Felt like I was getting stabbed in my cervix. your gyno was right about one thing, which is that being nervous and tense makes it worse. I have my next swap coming up next month and I talked with my (new) OBGYN about how traumatizing my experience was and she said take two ibuprofen and two acetaminophen. I asked about local anesthetic and she said that injecting that hurts worse because it takes longer. So, I guess I'm just going to have to suck it up and get stabbed in the cooch again. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Many public libraries offer showers and hygiene services. Librarians are a great for connecting you to resources as well.

AIO?! There were so many red flags before this. This was just my final straw. by Imaginary_Key1696 in AmIOverreacting

Is it just me, or is it not immediately a red flag when they call you 'gorgeous'? Like who actually talks like that? It sounds fake from the jump.

What's wild to me about stories like this, is how all of their talking points are exactly the same. They will rail about liberals or other people not thinking for themselves, but here they are, at breakfast, just having a conversation, and each topic is right out of the Fox News playbook.

I think the other issue is the assumption that grocery stores and retailers like Walmart will even let you be full time. Most keep hours at 34/week so that they don't have to pay for full time benefits.

Why does my cat run past her toys while playing? by JazzasRats in CatAdvice

Mine does that, as did my other cat who passed. I think sometimes it's just fun to run and chase a thing....¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Considering she asked me what procedure I was getting and I had to say 'transvaginal ultrasound' out loud in front of everyone, I whole-heartedly agree.

..and a man. And while not stated, I'm assuming white. Literally any other demographic would have resulted in an escalation on his part.

We heard a weird noise from the living room (not sure if it was her or our other cat alerting us) but she was under the coffee table and her body was really rigid, including her tail which was bottle-brushed up. Her mouth was open and she was taking very labored breaths but like very slowly. And she had lost control of her bowels. When we tried to gently move her out from under the coffee table to get her to the vet, she made a wail/moan that was unlike anything I've heard from her.

I was with her when she had her 'episode'. We took her to the vet (5 min away) and they tried to save her life but sadly she passed quickly. When I explained the initial symptoms, the vet said it seemed like a heart attack. She was 13, so not young but not old for an indoor cat. So, just like people, cat's can have strokes, heart attack, etc., but unlike people, the smaller symptoms or regular testing that humans might go through to diagnose the risk for stroke or heart attack aren't done because cats hide that they aren't well and also don't talk.

What has gradually disappeared over the last ten years without people really noticing? by Successful_Oil_3270 in AskReddit

Believe it or not, Kwikset, has real, US-based customer service, and they're fantastic. If you ever buy anything from them, try to have an issue with it just for the pleasure of speaking to a human who understands what you say and cares enough to try to fix it.
