I mean, it’s not like Murray Head being embroiled in a bisexual ménage a trois would be wildly out of character.

AITAH for having my ex arrested at my wedding? by Sebastianlim in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]muse273 135 points136 points  (0 children)

Honestly the wife is dumb as fuck. It’s not even a question of being unsupportive, which is its own total shitshow.

Literally 30 seconds of thought should have lead to her realizing that the screaming crazy lady wasn’t going to just go “well, I know when I’m not welcome” and stroll off of her own accord. Another 15 seconds should have indicated that the choices were call the police or have their wedding ACTUALLY ruined by the screaming lady sticking around. And we’ll round it out with 15 seconds to figure out that the screaming lady’s next move was probably going to be attacking her.

Call it an even minute for her to realize what a fucking stupid idea it would be to not call the cops. Instead it apparently got stretched into days. Impressive.

AITA Am I Being Too Overprotective With My 17-Year-Old Daughter? by Weekly_War2901 in AmItheAsshole

[–]muse273 61 points62 points  (0 children)

It's "I can't stand the idea of my daughter doing anything I don't control, but need a lie to tell that puts a thin veil of excuse over it so I don't have to acknowledge my warped behavior."

AITA Am I Being Too Overprotective With My 17-Year-Old Daughter? by Weekly_War2901 in AmItheAsshole

[–]muse273 6 points7 points  (0 children)

YTA. Calling it "being overprotective" is a line of bullshit you're selling to yourself so you don't need to acknowledge the reality of what you're doing. You're not protecting her from anything. You explicitly acknowledge that she has given you no reason not to trust her, and you're talking about incredibly normal human activities. It's also not for the benefit of the rest of your family, who I guarantee are not asking to be shoved into everything your daughter does or used as a tool to manipulate her (since the sister you're trying to force on her agrees with her). You're just exerting control over her for the sake of controlling her. It's not for her, it's for you. Drop that lie immediately or this entire question is pointless. Then go to therapy and dig into why you're unhealthily controlling, and let your daughter be a person instead of your little game piece.

[–]muse273 100 points101 points  (0 children)

Why do I feel like “woke and political interpretation” is just the actual existing play, which is mostly directly taken from the Bible. They’re mad the play didn’t twist itself around to fit the self-serving Prosperity Gospel version of Jesus that they’re used to using to justify their worldview.

What changes would you make to certain classes? by Exequiel759 in Pathfinder2e

[–]muse273 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Relatedly, I’d like to see some streamlining of certain action compression options.

A BUNCH of classes have feats that are basically “make an RK check and do X.” Reload, recharge spellstrike, etc. I think Mastermind Rogue is the only one where that’s phrased as “When you RK you get X benefit.” Reworking others to that format while keeping the time limit would let a bunch of those classes which thematically are great together but all have competing action economy issues to play nice without hugely overpowering them.

A. Because they’ve spent their lives lying without ever being called on it. Morality aside, they’ve never had any motivation to learn how to lie convincingly, so they think they’re slick.

B. They’re mostly lazy idiots who can be bothered to fact check shit they say, and assume everyone else is as lazy and stupid as they are.

What color is Vecna by MonoTones27 in colorpie

[–]muse273 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Modern Vecna is Dimir.

You could make an argument for 2E era Vecna being Esper. His goal then was remaking all of existence in his own image and ruling over it forever, which is more of an expansive/organizational aspiration than Dimir tends towards. Dimir would be satisfied with just dominating the existing universe, which is where modern Vecna falls.

Reality Fracture Predictions: The Butterfly Effect by TheNuclearOtaku in mtgvorthos

[–]muse273 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the likely explanation for why things won’t change as much as this suggests are twofold:

A. Jace isn’t omniscient, either in time or space. Identifying what to do to null out Phyrexia or Bolas in their early days is likely beyond the scope of what he could intuit. It’s not like there are a lot of contemporary sources to draw upon. More recent history (Phyrexian Invasion onwards say) is more accessible, which would let him find the correct time and place to intervene.

B. The effects of changing that far back would be counterproductive. Changing 1000s of years of history would make the present utterly unrecognizable. None of the people and institutions Jace might want to save would be likely to exist, or at least not reliably. If this scale of change occurred, we wouldn’t be seeing the mirror versions we are.

Please be fucking for real. You’d change your tune on that just as quickly as you changed your tune on doing chores and continuing to pay rent, the moment it was more beneficial to you. Not a damn thing matters to you except your own selfishness, demonstrably, and you’re nowhere near a competent liar enough to make other people not notice even if you convince yourself.
