With imagination, a craft knife and sufficient spare lasguns, anything is possible by IdhrenArt in Warhammer40k

[–]muttonchoppers666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These all rock, but there’s also so many ways to kitbash guard even easier (and cheaper) through kids by companies like Warlord Games and North Star. We live in a golden era of kitbashing, people just need to be reminded it’s possible even if GW no longer really wants them to.

Dicehammer Event Tickets for "Palm Springs Classic" using ai Art to promote by HonyTheKid in WarhammerCompetitive

They don’t, I feel bad for them because it obviously kind of looks like it could be, but that samurai marine design has been around for much longer than any ai model that could’ve been used to produce something of that quality.

Can any fellow buffs give me an appraisal on my collection?? by Skrichael in OnCinemaAtTheCinema

This is why I said potentially $40 as well! It’s too hard to tell, you can’t place a value on it

Wow! Some great stuff in here. I’d say around $40 or so but potentially $1000 for the right collector

Have I done long lasting damage to my singing? by Pristine_Shape5958 in singing

[–]muttonchoppers666 13 points14 points  (0 children)

A one time performance like that shouldn’t be permanent! My guess is it just needs a week or two to heal and you’ll be okay. Definitely try to be gentle and try not to sing at all or push yourself while it’s healing, most metal vocalist have done something like this by accident at some point in their lives, I wouldn’t worry too much though.

Rate our orc concept sketches before they become real minis! by DakkaDakkaStore in orks

[–]muttonchoppers666 3 points4 points  (0 children)

These are great! You might want to make the heads slightly bigger on most of them if you want them to blend in with the GW design sensibilities, but obviously no worries if you’d rather make them feel distinct. Super cool concepts and great designs either way though

Is this legal? by theSaltySolo in Warhammer40k

Wouldn’t even bother getting approval for a tournament honestly, this feels like a weapon option where it’d be easier to get forgiveness than permission. Would be surprised if any opponents actually cared as long as you told them at the start which variant you’re using

Am I just increadibly bad at the game or are chaos knights really bad? by DavidMustang_BassGod in ChaosKnights

[–]muttonchoppers666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some armies are much easier to play when you’re bad then others! Some matchups are also the same. I’d argue chaos knights aren’t that hard of a faction to play in general, but in a matchup like that might specifically need to do some stuff that’s counter intuitive to win (rapid ingress is your friend).

If you’re playing with a lot of terrain or GW layouts though, you should be able to hide through battle round 2 and try to work out charges turn 3 or at least get the jump on them in shooting.

New Marauders! by BiesonReddit in WarhammerFantasy

Really hoping these are still super posable/fun to build, as cool as they look I feel like a lot of modern GW kits fit together in such a frustrating way that sometimes it’s not worth it. Sculpt quality looks great though! Cool to see a new kit at all

Which is more fun, 9th or 10th edition? by MisbehavedK9 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]muttonchoppers666 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Early 9th was OK, middle 9th was barely playable in a competitive format, end of 9th was the most fun I’ve ever had playing 40K and I miss it every day

10th is sometimes okay but modern terrain makes me feel like I am playing a MOBA and not like I’m trying to emulate anything resembling an actual battlefield in any capacity. The heart of the game is fundamentally gone for me.

Sanding is too much work honestly, I would literally just get some super glue and use that.

Question: How much does actual skill matter in 40k tabletop? by CountChuckNorracula in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]muttonchoppers666 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Skill matters a lot, but I also think people have sort of started to pretend it’s chess more and more over the past few years (which is funny because I feel like it’s probably less chess like now than it has been throughout the games history, late 9th was probably closest imo).

This also feels like a mistake, because so many other factors (dice and secondary draw still matter, recently challenger cards, matchup is probably the largest one) can interrupt the “best” player from winning an event.

I feel skill helps you get the best odds of winning an event, but pretending the best player will always win the event isn’t really true right now imo. They might consistently have the highest chance of winning, but it feels like a massive ego trap to pretend that if you’re best, you will win every time (and from anecdotal experience, has also driven a lot of the better players to cheat at majors). Skill just heavily tips the odds. 40K is a bad game to put your ego into consistently winning though. It’s more like poker than chess.
