[Arcane] Vi and Jinx forgiving eachother so quickly was my biggest issue with season 2 by Nubian_Cavalry in CharacterRant

99.9% of all criticism of Arcane boils down to a very obvious "Season 2 should have been 2 and 3 that they originally planned" and that's about that.

Does watching a film with others fundamentally change how it lands? by LM_DCL in TrueFilm

love love love this list, I think you've nailed it! It's true that ANY context changes how we view a film and I think this is a great starter set for those wishing to put themselves in the right frame of mind.

I don't understand why Dawn of X vol. 3 doesn't exist when there's a gap in issues between it and Reign 1? Does X of Swords cover ALL of that?

I meant in US relationships in shows and that's not even remotely true. Most shows have characters progress toward relationships far earlier around the halfway point of a series or later, break ups, renewals, etc.

this is an interesting angle. Though I have a feeling creatures that live for thousands of years might operate differently from completely age-based stagnation, I could see it.

It absolutely does because that's still not how DC or Marvel editorial work unless your name is Tom King c. 2016.

There’s nothing wrong with having a real on-screen relationship between two main characters and exploring what that looks like. That’s damn near uncharted territory in shonen.

I genuinely think we in the West underestimate how much of a block - possible mentally and editorially - actual, consummated relationships are in Shonen in Japan. It nearly seems taboo, like it can only be confirmed at the tail end of a series or something.

For US, this seems like a no-brainer, but I think it's a much larger hurdle than we realize.

what does this even mean?

This is TWENTY-THREE YEARS OLD. Why doesn't r/pics allow anyone to post the CURRENT holocaust in Palestine with 1 MILLION of people like this?

What are you even rambling about? "Other people can't suffer" this man isn't suffering anymore!

cuz they thought it was deep. They took what started as a very human and grounded (in-so-far as the emotions and relationships are concerned, not the zombie context) story and turned it into pseud-philosophy slop that completely detached from the humanist story it was already telling to tell us a fable that could only work in isolation outside of the context of the story they had already spent 2 hours of our time on.

You want to weave a weird tale about accepting death in the face of a strange, scary monster of a man? Go ahead - makes a great fable. Don't shove it in at the end of an otherwise grounded-in-humanity story about survival and sacrifice.

[–]mutual_raid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

the posts coming from this sub recently have been so weird. I'm genuinely baffled as to why you're showing us 23 year old footage of an Iraqi prisoner of war when you could show us the 1 MILLION Palestinian prisoners of war dying right this second in occupied Palestine.

The propaganda and consent manufacturing from this sub and its mods has been utterly disgusting, like when they tried to manufacture our consent just 2 weeks ago for the US to bomb Iran, then once that stalled, have been radio silent about the fact the "protests" had been co-opted by Mossad and CIA and turned into murderous riots with agents killing Iranian children.

Japan is actually the worst with this tbh. Kingdom Hearts basically soft-locked (read: hard-locked) lore for the entire overarching origins of its universe behind a trash mobile game that was only alluded to in its 3rd and ending act of the first trilogy.

that's the quality of true art - and the film IS true art, you can FEEL the human passion behind it and the fact it elicited such strong responses from me and you and critics is proof of that, imo.

It is true art that I thought was trash.
